About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented part-time (20-30 hrs/week) Junior Technical Writer to join our team in a contract role for one of our clients, a large nonprofit for 6 months.  The role will involve assisting a lead technical writer in drafting the strategic plan, as well as some light note-taking / aggregation of engagement that we will then use for the plan.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their career who is passionate about clear communication and eager to further develop expertise in technical documentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing, editing, and maintaining strategic plan for a large non profit
  • Translate complex concepts into clear, concise, and user-friendly content
  • Partner with subject matter experts to gather, validate, and organize information
  • Ensure documentation accuracy, consistency, and adherence to style guidelines
  • Contribute to improving documentation processes and standards

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
  • 2–4 years of experience in technical writing, content development, or a related role
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Familiarity with tools such as Markdown, Confluence, Git, or similar documentation platforms is a plus
  • Travel to the midwest

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience writing for software or technical products
  • Portfolio or writing samples demonstrating technical or instructional content
