Review KYC and KYB applications, verify identities and beneficial owners, investigate adverse media, sanctions, and PEP alerts, conduct enhanced due diligence, document risk decisions, and manage periodic or event-driven reviews. The role also supports quality assurance, process improvement, regulatory monitoring, and collaboration with Risk, Operations, Support, and banking partners while helping build Flex’s new KYC function.

Flex is building the AI-native private bank for business owners.

We’re re-architecting the entire financial system for entrepreneurs—from the first dollar a business earns to how that value compounds, moves, and is ultimately spent in real life. Banking, credit, payments, personal finance, and financial operations—rebuilt from the ground up as a single, intelligent system. Flex is the full financial home for ambitious owners.

Since launching publicly in September 2023, Flex has scaled from zero to nine-figure annualized revenue, with a clear path to profitability by late 2026. We move fast, ship relentlessly, and operate with extreme ownership.

Our customers are affluent business owners ($3–$200M in revenue)—the backbone of the economy and one of the most underserved segments in finance. They’re stuck with outdated banks and fragmented tools. We’re replacing all of it. The opportunity is massive: a ~$1T+ revenue market hiding in plain sight. Our ambition is to build a $100B+ company by delivering a product that is fundamentally better—not incrementally improved.

Flex has raised $100M+ in equity and $300M+ in debt.

- Mission-critical problems: We build software that directly controls how money moves at scale.
- High bar, low ego: Small teams, exceptional people, real ownership.
- Speed over comfort: We prioritize execution, quality, clarity, and results.
- Enduring impact: What we’re building will define how a generation of owners runs their businesses.

Team & Locations

We hire exceptional people who want to build hard things and see their work matter immediately. Roles are available in: San Francisco, Miami, New York, and fully remote.

Flex Fuels Ambition.

About the role

Flex is hiring its first KYC Analysts, and you'll help shape a function that's still taking form.

This is a net-new function. As one of the first members of the KYC team, you'll own how Flex decides who gets in the door: the gatekeeper for every new account application, and the reviewer whenever an existing account is flagged. You'll report directly to the Head of Financial Crimes, work side by side with the people who built our financial crime program, and have real say in how it grows.

Every business owner who opens a Flex account passes through work you do. When an application is rated high or moderate risk, you'll check that the details hold up, collect documentation for every flag, and make the call on whether the customer is safe to onboard. Accuracy and speed both matter, and you'll be the one who figures out how to deliver both at once.

The scope here is bigger than a typical analyst role, because the function is still being built. Your first priority will be working through our review backlog and keeping onboarding moving. As you get your footing, you'll have the chance to improve our procedures and help shape how the team operates.

This is a strong fit if you have a few years in KYC, onboarding, or customer due diligence and want to grow from running a process into helping design one, with a path into broader program responsibilities as the team grows.

What you'll own

You'll own KYC decisions at Flex end to end, and over time you'll help shape how the function runs.

  • The function itself. Own onboarding and review decisions from application through approval, and help set the standard for what a strong KYC file looks like here.

  • The process. Improve our procedures as you go: flag what's clunky and help document and simplify it.

  • The queue and its quality. Work the manual-review queue with an eye on both quality and speed, so good customers get onboarded fast and risk gets the scrutiny it deserves.

  • The feedback loop. Spot patterns across the cases you see, bring them to Risk, Operations, and leadership, and help turn them into better detection and faster reviews.

 What you'll do

Make the call on who we onboard

  • Review new applications that our risk rating sends to manual review, and validate answers against documents and public sources

  • Gather documentation for every flag, so each high-risk answer is backed by a valid explanation before we onboard the customer

  • Run KYC and KYB reviews: verify identity documents, and identify beneficial owners and control persons through registry and public records

  • Work flagged accounts after opening, plus periodic refresh and event-driven reviews, and decide whether to clear, request more information, or escalate

  • Identify customers who warrant enhanced due diligence (EDD) and escalate them to supervisory review

Investigate and document

  • Research customers using public sources, including adverse media, sanctions lists, and politically exposed person (PEP) databases

  • Resolve screening hits by separating true matches from false positives, and document your reasoning

  • Write case notes so clear and well supported that a reviewer or bank partner can follow your decision without a call

  • Keep accurate, complete records in our case management system

Support the program

  • Partner with Support, Risk, and Operations to close open documentation requests and keep onboarding moving

  • Support quality assurance and file reviews, including for our bank partner program

  • Find process gaps and patterns that slow reviews or limit detection coverage, and turn them into simpler procedures

  • Stay current on evolving AML typologies and regulatory guidance, and bring what you learn back to the team

 What we're looking for

You're comfortable with ambiguity, make sound business decisions with incomplete information, and want to help bring order to a function that's still taking shape.

You have

  • 1–3+ years in KYC, customer due diligence, onboarding, or a related financial crimes role at a financial institution, fintech, or payments company, with exposure to business (KYB) onboarding or BaaS program compliance

  • Working knowledge of KYC/CDD requirements and BSA/AML obligations

  • Experience researching entities and individuals from public sources, and screening for adverse media, sanctions, and PEP exposure, using KYC or screening tools (for example, Sardine, Alloy, Unit21, or similar)

  • Strong written communication: you can explain a risk decision in plain language and summarize complex findings concisely

  • High attention to detail and real comfort with ambiguous or incomplete information

  • The ability to manage a queue, juggle multiple priorities, and prioritize well

  • A growth mindset and a self-driven approach: you don't wait to be handed the next problem, and when you see a clunky step you fix it and write down the better way

Bonus points

  • CAMS or another AML certification, completed or in progress

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
