The Role

As the Lead Product Manager - Core Platform, you will lead the roadmap of the engine that powers our entire ecosystem. This is a high-visibility, leadership role. You aren't just managing features, you are defining the multi-quarter strategy for our foundational infrastructure. This infrastructure includes data ingestion, transformation pipelines, identity resolution, security and governance, and the developer tooling. The developer tooling enables both our teams and customers to excel. Also, you continue to build our relationships with major Lakehouse partners.

You are a "multiplier" by building systems and introducing processes that raise the productivity of the entire department. You will lead the organization to success, focusing functional leaders on critical cross-department projects. You will report to the Senior Director, Product.

Interesting Problems
  • Lead the Core Platform vision and roadmap. Define the multi-quarter strategy for Amperity's foundational platform, including data ingestion, transformation pipelines, identity resolution infrastructure, orchestration, and developer tooling.
  • Work with Sales, customers, and prospective customers to address security and compliance questions about security and governance.
  • Support Data Lakehouse integration. Manage the continued build-out of our integrations with our Data Lakehouse partners (e.g., Databricks, Snowflake).
  • Guide platform scalability and reliability. Partner with engineering to ensure the platform handles enterprise-scale data volumes with the performance, uptime, and efficiency our largest customers demand.
  • Champion the developer and operator experience. Improve the tools, APIs, sandbox environments, and workflow that our teams and customers use to configure the platform.
  • Grow our AI/ML foundation. Collaborate with the AI & Machine Learning teams to ensure the platform provides the right primitives for our AI capabilities, from identity resolution models to predictive analytics and generative AI features.
  • Ecosystem Management. As the central hub for all things customer data, the ability to connect to upstream and downstream partners is necessary to our success. Maintaining the stable of connectors that power our solution is necessary to this role.
  • Translate technical depth into revenue opportunities. Work with customer success, sales, and solutions teams to explain how platform investments create customer value.
  • Experience managing multiple simultaneous projects-to-value, while thoughtfully questioning assumptions, and guide the discussion of tradeoffs. You inspire autonomy in others by unblocking them and providing the tools to unblock themselves, taking the team's velocity as part of your personal charter.
  • You are a multiplier by building systems, authoring tools, or introducing processes that raise the level of productivity of the entire team or department.
  • Experience communicating complex technical concepts to a variety of audiences and influencing upward and across the organization, while mentoring other product managers and elevating the craft of product management across the company.
About You
  • 12+ years of product management experience, with at least 4 years focused on data platform products.
  • Deep technical fluency. You're comfortable discussing distributed systems, data pipelines, cloud architecture, SQL, and ML infrastructure with engineers — and you know when to go deep vs. stay at the right altitude.
  • Experience with shipping platform products at scale. You've built and evolved platforms that other products and teams depend on, and you understand the unique dynamics of platform product management (adoption, migration, backward compatibility, internal customers).
  • Customer data or martech domain experience.
  • Familiarity with CDPs, identity resolution, ETL/reverse ETL, or marketing data ecosystems will help you get started.
  • You can zoom out to set a vision and zoom in to write clear requirements, evaluate bugs, and unblock your team day-to-day.
  • Experience communicating complex technical concepts to a variety of audiences. You distill complex technical concepts for executive, commercial, and technical audiences alike, and you build agreement among diverse partners.

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
