About the Team/Role

The Lead Product Manager evaluates business opportunities to define and optimize the product portfolio through analysis and understanding of targeted markets, market trends, new technology, customer business issues and the competitive environment. Applies broad knowledge of company product capabilities and service offerings with in-depth analysis of market position to create and expand the portfolio of products and solution alternatives. Works closely with product development to create products and validates early product definitions with customers. Uses technical expertise and extensive industry experience to formulate product strategies and identify new product opportunities. Responsible for developing project plans designed to address customer needs and/or expand market share.

Core Focus: Lead cross-functional execution and strategy for core benefits administration and enterprise identity/login experiences, blending high-level stakeholder alignment with hands-on technical delivery.

How you’ll make an impact

Key Technical & Tactical Execution

  • Agile Execution: Deep knowledge of Agile delivery, operating independently to write epics, define user stories, unblock development teams, and manage backlogs.

  • Tool & AI Proficiency: Daily expertise in modern product tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence) and actively leveraging AI tools to accelerate work.

  • User Experience: Strong focus on user-centered design, dedicated to optimizing user journeys and continuously improving the overall experience for end-users.

Strategic Ownership & Stakeholder Leadership

  • Product "GM" Mindset: Strategic ownership of product vertical success, ROI, margin gain, and cost/benefit analysis.

  • Roadmap & Prioritization: Balanced approach to technical delivery, GTM, and resource allocation (e.g., managing trade-offs between core innovation, custom client requests, and operational support).

  • Voice of Customer (VOC): Proven experience hosting Customer Advisory Boards (CABs) and anticipating unstated customer needs.

  • Cross-Functional Alignment: Exceptional ability to align matrixed stakeholders—including Security, Compliance, Operations, Legal, Client Services, and the Commercial & Strategy teams—from early ideation through launch.

  • Communication & Evangelism: Exceptional storytelling and public speaking skills (live or webinar), with an energetic, personable style that simplifies complex ideas for any audience.

  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Clear record of measuring product success through explicit usage, adoption, and financial metrics.

Experience you’ll bring

  • Product Experience: 8+ years of senior digital product management experience (SaaS, Web, Mobile) spanning both consumer-facing (B2C) and client-facing (B2B) applications.

  • Domain Expertise: Direct experience in Benefits Administration or the broader Health and Benefits space.

  • Scale, Complexity & Mindset: Proven track record operating within matrixed, large enterprise environments supporting diverse client segments, paired with the proactive, adaptable, and hands-on drive needed in a fluid, startup-like environment.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher required.

The base pay range represents the anticipated low and high end of the pay range for this position. Actual pay rates will vary and will be based on various factors, such as your qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. Base pay is one component of WEX's total compensation package. Most sales positions are eligible for commission under the terms of an applicable plan. Non-sales roles are typically eligible for a quarterly or annual bonus based on their role and applicable plan.
