The Role
The Legal Operations Analyst will support outside counsel program management and knowledge management, and is responsible for managing an array of programs to assist the in-house legal team maximize the value of legal services to the company. We are looking for someone who is energized by driving efficiency, is adept at thinking strategically, comfortable rolling up their sleeves to implement, and is both self-directed and able to work collaboratively across multiple stakeholders. A successful candidate has good judgment, is able to anticipate needs, is resourceful, takes ownership of assigned responsibilities, and is able to communicate clearly. Our Legal Operations team believes in finding creative solutions, leading change, and creating the best possible experience for the leaders and stakeholders we support.
You Will

  • Assist with the management of Block's Outside Counsel preferred provider panel, including assisting with the development and implementation of our AFA program.
  • Assist with rate and AFA negotiations, and monitor firm compliance within Block's e-biling system, Simple Legal.
  • Administer Block's legal billing platform, Simple Legal, and manage the day to day legal billing process including, but not limited to:
  • Communicate with outside counsel in a collaborative style to manage non-compliance with Billing Guidelines, drive and deliver a win-win outcome when the situation arises
  • Provide feedback on issues faced throughout the year to support updates of subsequent Billing Guidelines
  • Assist with development, implementation, and maintenance of the Legal team's knowledge management function


You Have

  • 3+ years experience in the areas of outside counsel management or legal operations in-house or at a law firm
  • Demonstrated consultative and customer service skills with the ability to develop relationships with individuals at all levels.
  • A persistent drive to efficiently solve problems for internal and external clients.
  • Attention to detail with the ability to plan and handle multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Proven track record of breaking down processes and identifying key pain points in order to deliver business improvements
  • Proven track record of collaborating with cross-functional groups to set objectives and produce results

  • Demonstrated experience working independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with GSuite, Simple Legal, and Persuit

The successful candidate's starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
