The role:
We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Litigation Paralegal to play a critical role within our Legal Department. This position will support SoFi’s in-house litigation counsel on litigation and arbitration efforts, including intake of new matters; placement of litigation holds; matter tracking; communications with SoFi’s external legal counsel; coordination with cross-functional teams on litigation matters; and, other litigation- and arbitration-related tasks as directed by the Senior Paralegal or in-house attorneys.
The ideal candidate has experience working in a paralegal role with a demonstrated track record of supporting law firm and in-house litigation, has a knowledge of the litigation and arbitration processes, and is detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable partnering with attorneys and cross-functional stakeholders on adversarial legal matters.
What you’ll do:
Intake new litigation matters and log them in SoFi’s systems of record
Maintain accurate and up-to-date litigation-related data in SoFi’s systems of record
Facilitate the gathering of internal discovery; shepherd and complete litigation research requests; conduct internal investigations in response to complaint allegations; answer questions from outside and in-house counsel with regards to allegations made against SoFi
Assist in the generation of litigation-related reports, including financial reporting for delivery to in-house counsel and SoFi’s General Counsel
Support continuous improvement of litigation workflows, tracking tools, and reporting processes.
What you’ll need:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience; paralegal certification is a plus.
2 - 4+ years of experience as a litigation paralegal, in either a law firm or in-house legal department. At least 2 years experience as a paralegal in a law firm is strongly preferred.
Strong experience with litigation tracking and case management platforms (e.g., Legal Tracker, CounselLink, or similar).
Strong knowledge of the litigation and arbitration processes
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously while meeting multiple, and often short, deadlines.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Comfort working cross-functionally with attorneys, cross-functional partners, and external service providers.
Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and operate with minimal supervision.
Experience in fintech, financial services, or a regulated environment is a plus.
Nice to have:
Experience working for a financial services company and/or in-house legal department.
Proficiency with Legal Tracker, LexisNexis, and Relativity/other e-discovery platforms.
Experience e-filing via PACER and state court online filing systems.
