  • Job Title: Manager, Data Engineering

  • Job Summary: We are looking for an experienced Manager of Data Engineering to lead our team in designing and implementing complex data solutions. This role will be responsible for leading a team who are responsible for our Data Platform infrastructure, design and orchestration of core data pipelines, and the proliferation of data across our Enterprise. As the Manager of Data Engineering, you will lead a team of growing engineers who will enable real-time data workflows that power analytics, business insights, and product experiences. This position will play a critical role in bridging technical execution with business outcomes, bringing clarity, consistency, and innovation to how we manage and leverage data across the organization.

What you’ll do

  • Lead TPCi’s Data Platform team: Oversee the design, implementation and scaling of our data infrastructure, including ETL/ELT pipelines, data mart architecture, and data governance frameworks. 

  • Own data modeling and architecture: define and maintain data modeling strategy for analytics, operations, and product workflows to ensure maintainability, accuracy and scalability. 

  • Collaborate cross functionally and be a champion for the Data Platform team.  Leading with curiosity and delivering value to our partners through data. 

  • Ensure data quality and observability: Establish SLAs, maintain reliability, integrity, and observability across all data environments, support consistent and trusted insights. 

  • Establish engineering best practices: Implement and uphold best practices for testing, CI/CD, documentation, and cost optimization within the Data Platform. 

  • Drive modernization and consistency: lead efforts in modernization, ensuring performance and reliability.   

  • Innovate with AI driven tools where appropriate: evaluate and implement AI enhanced solutions for pipeline monitoring, schema validation and anomaly detection to improve efficiency and accuracy. 

  • Build and maintain a strong, healthy, and diverse team by providing continuous mentorship and coaching. 

               

What you’ll bring

  • 5+ years of industry experience and building distributed data systems. 

  • 3+ years of Software Engineering or Data Engineering management experience. 

  • Strong cross collaboration skills that bridge technical execution with business outcomes and proven outcomes when delivering data to a broad range of business partners.   

  • Track record of leading or managing high performing teams  

  • Strong facilitation skills (design, requirements gathering, progress and status) 

  • Passion for data, automation and leveraging agile software development methodologies. 

  • A track record of recruiting, leading and growing high performing technical teams in a demanding talent market. 

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and strong fundamentals including data structures, algorithms and distributed systems. 

  • Proven expertise in designing and implementing scalable data architectures in cloud-native environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP). 

  • Strong knowledge of modern data platforms and tools (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, Kafka, FiveTran, Airbyte, dbt). 

  • Ability to analyze and optimize data access patterns, storage strategies, and performance metrics. 

  • Strong collaboration skills with engineering, product, and business stakeholders. 


Base Salary Range: For this role, new hires generally start between $154,400.00 - $183,540.00 per year. The full range is $154,400.00 - $232,000.00 per year. This range is applicable for the labor market where the role is intended to be hired. The final base salary is directly related to the candidate’s qualifications and professional experience uniquely.
