The Workday Practice

Alpha’s Workday Practice sits within MCO and specializes in Workday implementation, optimization, solution health assessments, release readiness, and Application Management Services (AMS). The practice works closely with Alpha’s broader advisory, data, and technology teams to translate business requirements into scalable Workday solutions and provide continuity from strategy and design through implementation and ongoing support.

The Role

Lead functional discovery, design, configuration, and delivery for assigned Workday Financials workstreams. The Manager combines hands-on configuration expertise with day-to-day client leadership, workstream planning, quality review, and coordination of functional delivery resources.

What You’ll Do

  • Functional Ownership: Own configuration design and implementation for core and specialty Workday Financials capabilities such as General Ledger, Accounting Center, Procure-to-Pay, Expenses, Projects, Billing, Banking & Settlement, or reporting.
  • Discovery & Workshops: Lead and participate in functional discovery, design, and validation workshops. Document business and functional requirements, decisions, dependencies, and configuration implications.
  • Hands-on Configuration: Drive complex configuration activities, including FDM, business processes, accounting rules, security-related functional requirements, and module-specific configuration.
  • Client Management: Develop effective working relationships with client finance and project teams. Manage day-to-day workstream priorities, decisions, deliverables, risks, and deadlines.
  • Data, Testing & Cutover: Coordinate data mapping and conversion activities, functional testing, UAT, defect resolution, cutover preparation, and deployment readiness for assigned workstreams.
  • Quality Review: Serve as the first line of review for configuration and functional deliverables produced by Senior Consultants and Consultants; ensure consistency with approved design and Workday leading practices.
  • Cross-Workstream Coordination: Coordinate with integration, data, reporting, security, PMO, and adjacent functional teams to manage dependencies and maintain an integrated solution.
  • Innovation & Team Development: Stay current on Workday capabilities and identify practical opportunities to improve solution design and delivery. Coach junior team members and contribute to reusable assets and delivery methods.

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • 5+ years of Workday Financials implementation experience with multiple end-to-end delivery cycles.
  • Strong hands-on configuration capability and demonstrated ownership of a Workday Financials workstream.
  • Strong functional design, requirements documentation, workshop facilitation, testing, and workstream planning skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with finance stakeholders and collaborate across functional and technical teams.
  • Financial services or private markets experience is preferred.

Workday Certifications

  • Active Workday Financial Management / Financials Core certification.
  • At least one relevant specialty certification such as Procure-to-Pay, Projects, Accounting Center, Expenses, Reporting, or another Financials capability is preferred.

Location & Travel

This position is US-based and primarily remote. Occasional travel to client sites and Alpha offices may be required based on project needs, key implementation milestones, and team collaboration.

There are a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to - skill sets, experience and training, and licensure and certifications. A reasonable estimate of the salary range is $130,000 – $160,000 USD, subject to change based on salary benchmarking. In addition to this salary, candidates will be eligible for a variable bonus.
