 Purpose: Why the Job Exists & What You Will Do:   

As the Manufacturing Engineer, you will utilize statistical analysis and objective data to measure effectiveness, improve, standardize, maintain and sustain operational processes and assign activities from the Plant Manager to meet the goals of the business.

 

Essential Job Functions & Expected Outcomes:  Your Accountabilities in the Role 

  1. Manufacturing Process Improvement: 100% of the Job

 

  1. Assists the site Operations in various areas to ensure products and processes are handled effectively, meeting business goals. 

  2. Partners with cross-functional teams and other team members in Kaizen projects and CI efforts to develop processes that meet cost and delivery times.

  3. Develop standardized work and work instructions for machinery and manufacturing systems

  4. Preparation of civil engineering drawings and other graphic material, ensuring alignment with product specifications.

  5. Conduct Root Cause Analysis and implement corrective actions with Maintenance and Operations that will increase output & remove bottle necks while meeting budget.

  6. Creates, updates, and maintains engineering documents stored in databases or in hard copy form to ensure current data is referenced.

  7. Assists in the preparation of cost and quantity estimates to ensure alignment to project goals. 

  8. Prepares a variety of progress reports and summaries of construction projects to keep the team informed and the projects on track. 

  9. Coordinates the Engineering Change Order (ECO) processes to ensure administrative functions are handled effectively to keep projects moving.

  10. Creates Bill of Materials/Product Structures, routings etc.  for new products in the system and ensures accurate costing and part usage in the system. This will involve interaction/collaboration from Engineering, Production, Purchasing and other support areas. 

  11. Coordinates and gathers data to reach conclusions on process/documentation/product changes, as needed, to ensure accurate processes and data control. 

  12. Handles general administrative items and maintains files to support the team. 

  13.    Analyzes, researches and collaborates with others (internal and external) within the area to facilitate the CER for the purchase of capital equipment ensuring area goals are met.

Position Requirements:

  1. Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering-related field; would consider a combination of coursework and experience.

  2. Experience: 0-2 years of Engineering process work or Engineering Project Management, with CADCAM experience.  

  3. Certification(s): None required but a plus if ASQ/Six Sigma certified or other certifications

  4. Functional Skills: Strong detail orientation with excellent planning, prioritizing, and organizing skills are required to work effectively in managing various projects. Must be able to take initiative, be forward-thinking, and make solid decisions focused on the goals of the organization. Excellent math and problem-solving skills are necessary to effectively enhance the manufacturing areas.

  5. Technology Aptitude/Skills: Solid ERP skills; understands system functionality and the system file structure relationship to be successful in the role.  A firm grasp on reading drawingsFamiliarity with Programming or PLC’s is preferred; requires advanced PC and Word/Excel skills to create pivot tables and V-look ups as required. A strong grasp on reading drawings, blueprints, graph analysis and statistical data. Preferably an understanding in process control, Minitab and AutoCAD. 

  6. Language Skills: Excellent communication (verbal/written) and presentation skills to meet the goals of the position.   

  7. Leadership/Behaviors: Self-motivated and able to prioritize activities daily.   Customer-focused and provides courteous support for various areas; involves high volume and repetitive work

Equipment Used:

  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment and electronic devices such as computers, phones, photocopiers, devices, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Requirements to Perform Essential Functions:

  • Ability to sit at desk for 6+ hours per day

  • Ability to use hands and fingers and to reach for and handle objects to perform tasks frequently

  • Ability to write ideas/information in a logical flow for 5+ hours per day

  • Ability to read and respond on an on-going basis daily due to nature of the work

  • Ability to view a computer screen for 6+ hours per day.

  • Ability to talk and communicate with others via phone, in-person, and computer on-going 

  • Ability to listen to customers, problem-solve, and respond accordingly throughout the day

  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, bend, reach, stoop, squat, kneel, twist, push, pull and carry items frequently

  • Lifting up to 25 lbs. sporadically

Environmental Conditions & Travel:

  • The employee is primarily exposed to a normal office environment with moderate noise. The employee is occasionally required to wear suitable Personal Protective Equipment while visiting warehouse/manufacturing departments or client areas. 

  • Some travel; may travel to sister companies or visit vendors; infrequently; approximately 10% or less travel
