Reports To: Shift Supervisor 

Location: Everett, WA 

Employment Type: Full-Time 

Schedule: Valence Surface Technologies production is open 24 hours per day. All shifts are as follows: 1st shift (Monday-Friday 6:00am-2:30pm), 2nd shift (Monday-Friday 12:00pm-8:30pm), 3rd shift (Sunday-Thursday 10:00pm 6:30am). Shift availability is determined by business needs and may change. 

Job Summary:  

An NDT trainee supports the inspection of aircraft parts by learning and assisting with non‑destructive testing methods. Their role is to observe, practice, and perform basic tasks under supervision while gaining the skills needed to identify defects without damaging the component. By helping prepare materials, set up equipment, and document results, they contribute to ensuring the structural integrity, safety, and quality of aerospace parts as they progress toward full NDT certification. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Documented as a trainee and will be actively participating in a training program for a stated NDT method for a limited and specific period of time. 
  • Obtain experience under the direct observation of a level 1, 2, or 3 NDT instructor only when approved by the Responsible Level 3. 
  • Will not make decisions (accept or reject), conduct tests, or perform any other NDT functions without supervision of instructor. 
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent. 
  • Able to read, write, and communicate in English. 
  • Required to maintain strict confidentiality regarding all employee, supplier, customer, and business-related information and documentation. 
  • Successful completion of background check and drug test screening. 

 

Physical Demands: 

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, or lift up to 25 lbs  
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures  
  • Ability to work at heights or in confined spaces (if applicable)  
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, or on call as needed 
  • Constant exposure to moving mechanical parts. 
  • Constant reaching, grasping and fine manipulation with both hands and arms. 
  • Constant standing and moving. 
  • Occasional bending/squatting. 
  • Occasional repetitive motion. 
  • Occasional sitting at a workstation using a computer.

  • Constant (67-100% of shift) 
  • Frequent (34-66% of shift) 
  • Occasional (11-33% of shift) 

 

Work Environment: 

  • Manufacturing/industrial setting with moving machinery and equipment  
  • Exposure to noise, dust, and chemical odors (monitored and regulated by EHS)  
  • Temperature fluctuations based on weather and facility conditions  
  • PPE required (safety glasses, gloves, aprons, boots, respirator, etc.)

SALARY DESCRIPTION 

  • Compensation Range: $20.77 – $23.00 per hour DOE
