Position Title: Optometrist

Position Purpose: Global Dynamics is seeking a qualified Optometrist to provide professional optometry services in support of the Washington Army National Guard (WAARNG). The Optometrist will perform vision examinations and related clinical and administrative services in accordance with Army regulations, aviation flight physical examination requirements, directives, and applicable clinical standards.

Services will primarily be performed at the 96th Aviation Troop Command at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, with services also potentially performed at Camp Murray or other authorized WAARNG locations within 60 miles of JBLM.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform professional optometry services in accordance with Army regulations, aviation flight physical examination requirements, directives, and instructions.
• Conduct in-person eye examinations for Washington Army National Guard Soldiers.
• Write appropriate vision prescriptions for Soldiers.
• Order glasses for Soldiers using the Spectacle Request Transmission System (SRTS).
• Obtain and maintain access to Government systems including MEDPROS Web Data Entry (MWDE), AERO, and MHS GENESIS.
• Enter and update vision examination information for each Soldier examined.
• Maintain required monthly tracking and reporting of prescriptions and services performed.
• Provide required reports following scheduled drill periods and other service events.
• Comply with applicable military installation, patient privacy, security, information-system, and Government documentation requirements.

Requirements:

• Must possess a current license permitting practice as an Optometrist in the State of Washington.
• Must meet the examination eligibility requirements of the American Board of Preventive Medicine, as specifically required by the PWS.
• Must have familiarity with Military Aviation Medicine/Military Aviation.
• Must be fully trained, licensed, certified, and otherwise qualified to independently perform the required optometry services.
• Must provide copies of applicable licenses and certifications for Government credentialing and privileging prior to beginning performance and as subsequently required.
• Must be able to successfully meet applicable installation access, background investigation, security, and Government system-access requirements.

Working Conditions and Environment

This position is on-site in a medical facility.   Driving may be required.

Physical Requirements

The position requires repetitive motion, such as standing, walking, sitting and bending.  Light lifting, up to 20 pounds, may be required.
