Unusual Machines is a U.S.-based drone and drone parts company focused on the small and First-Person View (FPV) segments of the drone market. Our brands - Rotor Riot, Fat Shark, Rotor Lab and - coming soon - Upgrade Energy - are some of the most respected names in FPV and have helped shape the industry through e-commerce, product development, and a deep connection with the pilot community.

We’re expanding into enterprise and defense - bringing our obsessive attention to performance, design, and U.S.-based manufacturing into high-stakes environments like search and rescue and military innovation. With several of our products already approved by the Defense Innovation Unit, we’re solving procurement issues for customers who demand speed, agility, and compliance.

If you love working at the intersection of community, content, and cutting-edge technology, you’ll feel right at home here.

You in This Role

You’re a hands-on leader who knows how to keep a team organized, motivated, and focused on getting the job done right. As the Packaging Supervisor, you’ll oversee daily packaging operations and lead the Packaging Associate team to ensure products are packaged accurately, meet quality standards, and are ready for shipment on time.

You’ll also work closely with Procurement and other departments to develop and standardize packaging solutions for UMAC products. From ESD-safe packaging for electronic boards to custom foam inserts that protect motors, drones, and other components, you’ll help ensure every product is packaged according to its unique handling and protection requirements. You’re proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable solving problems, improving processes, and working across teams to support quality and efficiency as the company grows.

What You’ll Bring

Leadership, organization, and a strong commitment to quality and accountability. Ability to assign daily work, communicate expectations, monitor team performance, and address problems before they affect production. You lead by example, support your team, and understand the importance of safety, accuracy, and meeting operational goals.

You also understand that different products require different packaging solutions. You’re able to collaborate with Procurement and other departments to identify packaging needs, evaluate product-specific requirements, and develop consistent packaging standards that protect product integrity, accommodate design limitations, and improve packing efficiency.

Required:

  • Previous experience in packaging, warehousing, manufacturing, fulfillment, or a related environment

  • Strong communication and organizational skills

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage changing workloads

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality

  • Ability to identify problems, resolve issues, and escalate concerns when needed

  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees, management, and other departments

  • Ability to maintain accurate records and track operational progress

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing business needs

  • Ability to identify packaging concerns and communicate product handling or protection requirements to the appropriate teams

Preferred:

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Previous team leadership or supervisory experience

  • Experience training, coaching, and supporting employee performance

  • Familiarity with packaging, shipping, inventory, and warehouse procedures

  • Experience monitoring productivity, quality, and operational goals

  • Basic computer skills and experience maintaining production or operational records

  • Experience identifying workflow improvements and reducing packaging errors or material waste

  • Experience collaborating with Procurement, Engineering, Product Development, or other departments on packaging improvements

  • Familiarity with product-specific packaging requirements, including ESD-safe materials, protective inserts, and custom foam packaging

  • Understanding of how product design, wiring, sensitive components, and handling limitations affect packaging decisions

What You’ll Gain
  • The opportunity to help build and develop a packaging team within a growing U.S.-based manufacturing company

  • A leadership role supporting products used in real-world drone operations—not consumer toys

  • The opportunity to improve daily workflows, team performance, and packaging quality

  • Hands-on leadership experience across packaging and warehouse operations

  • Opportunities to collaborate with Procurement and other departments to develop and standardize packaging solutions

  • The ability to make a direct impact on product protection, operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and team development

  • The opportunity to help implement standardized packaging methods and custom protective inserts as the company scales

  • A team culture that values accountability, continuous improvement, and doing things right the first time

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This role is performed in a warehouse or manufacturing environment and requires regular interaction with packaging personnel and other warehouse teams. The position involves coordinating daily activities, monitoring workflow, addressing operational issues, and assisting with hands-on tasks when needed. The role also requires cross-functional communication to evaluate packaging needs, improve packaging methods, and ensure products are handled and protected appropriately.

Physical and environmental requirements include:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods as needed

  • Ability to move throughout the packaging and warehouse areas to monitor operations

  • Ability to assist with hands-on packaging and material handling tasks when necessary

  • Ability to visually inspect products, packaging, and labels for accuracy

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with team members and other departments

  • Ability to maintain a safe, organized, and productive work environment

All employees are required to follow established safety and quality procedures. The Packaging Supervisor is also responsible for reinforcing these standards, addressing safety and quality concerns, and ensuring team members understand and follow established work instructions.

The Packaging Supervisor will work with Procurement and other relevant departments to help ensure packaging materials and methods meet product-specific requirements, protect sensitive components, prevent damage during handling and shipment, and support consistent packaging standards.
