Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is seeking a Payloads Engineering Manager (Level K) in Everett, WA to lead the high-performing Payloads Automation and Design Methods team providing a variety of technical solutions and complex project oversight in support of existing and future commercial airplane products. The successful candidate will have strong engineering expertise, ability to guide multi-faceted projects to completion, possess outstanding communication skills, and demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships.
As the Payloads Automation and Design Methods Manager, you will own the Payloads non-airborne software strategy, portfolio, and integrated roadmap to equip engineers for increasing Customer Introduction SOW. You will lead a team of Payloads engineers and tech designers to prioritize, develop, test, and deploy non-airborne software, manage technical debt, and define requirements across airplane programs. This role requires close collaboration with other Payloads teams and partners including Boeing Engineering India, BCA Digital Engineering Leadership, Information Digital Technology and Security (IDT&S), Boeing India Software Engineering, Boeing AI, and Purchased Services.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Keep safety and quality at the forefront of all activities.
  • Manages employees performing engineering and technical activities in the area of Mechanical & Structural Engineering.
  • Leads development of cabin interior solutions in support of current and future commercial airplane products.
  • Provides oversight to complex projects; integrating multiple considerations including: suppliers, interfacing engineering teams, production system needs, regulations, and airline requirements.
  • Develops and executes project and process plans, implements policies and procedures and sets operational goals.
  • Acquires resources for projects and processes, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements.
  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports.
  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes.
  • Manages, develops and motivates employees.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)
  • 5+ years of experience in Aerospace Industry.
  • Experience using project management methodologies, including developing project plans, performance management, and managing issues and risks.
  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Experience in managing complex projects from conception to completion.
  • 3+ years of experience leading aerospace design engineering teams and integrating within a global supply base and product value streams.
  • Knowledge of Boeing products and processes.
  • 3+ years of experience within Boeing Commercial Airplanes.
  • Experience developing digital tools and processes including user centered design practices.
  • Knowledge of aircraft Cabin and Cargo products.
  • Experience with commercial aircraft certification processes and regulations.
  • Proven ability to lead with the Boeing Values.
  • Demonstrated ability in team building, coaching, and employee development to enhance team performance and engagement.
  • Solid technical background with the ability to guide and mentor the team.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary Pay range: $147,050 - $198,950
