About Aboon

Setting up a 401(k) shouldn't be the hardest thing a business ever does. But retirement plan administration is complex, fragmented, and manual — and it slows down both business owners and the advisors who serve them. Aboon was founded to change that.

We're an AI-native third-party administrator (TPA) that makes it easy for advisors to offer 401(k)s and other retirement products by pairing streamlined workflows with dedicated human service. Backed by leading investors including Bain Capital and Edward Jones Ventures, we bring decades of experience building for advisors and the retirement industry. We're looking for exceptional, mission-driven people to build it with us.

About the role

As a Plan Administrator, Compliance Services, you’ll support Aboon’s plan administration and 3(16) monitoring services across onboarding and annual administration.

You’ll work closely with consultants and recordkeeper partners, help shape how our services evolve, and build creative solutions to improve the 401(k) client experience.

What you’ll do
  • Support consultants across onboarding, annual administration and 3(16) monitoring services.

  • Provide sales support by working with recordkeeper contacts to request proposals, reviewing CRM reporting data to keep team on track, gathering and reviewing documents for completeness.

  • Manage the onboarding process in conjunction with our recordkeeper partners.

  • Prepare plan documents, disclosures, and amendments to meet client goals and align to various Recordkeeper products.

  • Gathering, organizing and reviewing reports from Recordkeepers, clients and payroll reports.

  • Perform required non-discrimination testing and ensure compliance with ERISA and IRS regulations.

  • Review payroll and employee data to determine eligibility and calculate employer contributions.

  • Analyze and reconcile plan assets and deposits (where 3(16) services are performed).

  • Review and approve participant distribution, loan, and rollover contribution requests.

  • Prepare relevant informational and tax forms, including Form 5500, Form 8955-SSA, and Form 5330.

  • Understand and develop corrections for plan errors under IRS and DOL programs.

  • Utilize Excel skills to create and manage complex formulas to streamline plan administration, effectively prototyping and testing future platform builds.

  • Proactively identify improvements to existing processes and client service practices; build new processes and documentation to support team growth.

  • Holding or pursuing ASPPA QKA (or NIPA APA) or pursuing advanced ASPPA designations such as QKC, QPA, or CPC
