Overview

Do you want to shape the commerce solutions that power some of the world’s largest retailers and brands? As a Principal Software Engineer in Dynamics 365 Commerce, you will lead architecture, code hands-on, and operate scalable, reliable services. You will solve complex customer problems across teams, mentor engineers, and improve shopping and operational experiences while growing your expertise and cross-product influence.

Dynamics 365 is a SaaS Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) portfolio spanning Finance, Supply Chain Management, Project Operations, Commerce, and Human Resources. We build solutions for end-to-end operations across industries using AI, automation, and integrated analytics, drawing on Microsoft Azure, Office, Teams, Dynamics, and Power Platform.

Dynamics 365 Commerce is Microsoft’s end-to-end omnichannel commerce solution that enables organizations to engage customers, empower employees, and optimize operations across physical stores, e-commerce, call centers, and back-office systems.

As part of the Dynamics 365 portfolio, Commerce delivers intelligent, connected, and composable capabilities that unify digital and physical experiences.

Our team builds high-scale cloud services, extensibility frameworks, and AI-driven experiences integrated across Microsoft Copilot, Azure, Teams, Power Platform, and Dynamics 365. We advance modern commerce through engineering, data-driven insights, and AI-first design.

Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.

Responsibilities
  • Partner with product management, design, data science, customers, and partner teams to determine user requirements for Commerce scenarios and translate them into technical solutions that deliver end-to-end customer and business value.

  • Lead architecture, dependency identification, and design documents for scalable, reliable Commerce services and extensibility frameworks across physical stores, e-commerce, call centers, and back-office integrations.

  • Lead by example through hands-on coding, technical design reviews, and code reviews. Mentor engineers across products in producing extensible, maintainable code, and drive secure-by-design practices, automated testing, and engineering quality.

  • Apply cross-product expertise with stakeholders to drive project plans, release plans, and work items across multiple engineering groups. Resolve dependencies and align technical execution with customer priorities.

  • Serve as the accountable directly responsible individual (DRI) for production services and solutions. Participate in on-call monitoring and incident response for degradation, downtime, and interruptions, and mentor engineers in diagnosis, mitigation, and live-site improvements.

  • Seek and share new knowledge, technical solutions, and reusable engineering patterns. Drive consistent monitoring and operations across Commerce and connected products, improving availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance at scale.

  • Partner across teams to accelerate AI adoption and transform how we work, embedding AI into engineering workflows and enabling new practices that improve productivity, software quality, and customer outcomes.
