Entra ID (formerly known as Azure AD) is at the center of Microsoft’s cloud strategy. We build and operate critical authentication, authorization and directory services that are used by the millions of Azure, Office 365, XBOX and Windows users worldwide. In the mobile-first cloud-first world, sign-in and sign-up is the front door for reliable end user experience to use any of Microsoft cloud services. Entra ID supports millions of tenants and manages billions of identities, reliably processing billions of authentication and programmability requests daily through its robust infrastructure. The Entra ID platform team is dedicated to continuously improving the platform to ensure scalability for both enterprise and consumer scenarios as the service evolves. We are looking for a Principal Software Engineering Manager to join our team. In this role, you will have the chance to work alongside experienced engineers on innovative distributed systems technologies and contribute to the implementation of advanced algorithms designed to solve complex, large-scale performance challenges.

Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate accountability in developing and maintaining the service.
  • Proactively enhance resiliency, reduce latency, and ensure product reliability, while advocating for engineering best practices.
  • Leading engineering projects focused on high-scale distributed services, overseeing all phases from initiation to completion.
  • Formulate and prioritize comprehensive engineering plans for your team, and foster effective collaboration with partner organizations.
  • Establish a positive, inclusive team culture consistent with Microsoft cultural attributes, values, leadership principles and manager expectations.
  • Hire, lead, mentor and retain a diverse team of excellent engineers.
  • Deliver success via empowerment and accountability.
  • Embody our culture and values

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
     
     

Other Requirements: 

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. 

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 12+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
    • 4+ years people management experience.

Software Engineering M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $142,800 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
