About Read AI:

At Read AI we’re redefining how teams collaborate by bringing intelligence to every conversation. Our platform supercharges productivity across meetings, messages, and email, so work gets done faster, smarter, and with better focus. We integrate seamlessly with tools like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Slack, and more, helping teams stay aligned and move forward, whether they’re in the same room or across time zones.

Backed by $81 million in funding from Smash Capital, Madrona, and Goodwater Capital, Read AI is growing. If you're excited to shape the future of AI-powered collaboration and want to make an impact at a product-focused startup, we’d love to meet you.

The Role:

We're hiring a Product Designer to help shape Read's enterprise experience. You'll work on complex, high-impact workflows, making them intuitive, consistent, and trustworthy for the people who depend on them.

The challenge is familiar to anyone who has designed enterprise software: how do you make a powerful, flexible product feel simple without hiding the controls and information people need?

What you'll own:
Enterprise workflows and administration
  • Design intuitive experiences for configuring, managing, and using Read across organizations

  • Simplify complex settings, permissions, and administrative workflows

Clarity and consistency
  • Improve information architecture, navigation, and interaction patterns across enterprise experiences

  • Bring strong visual and interaction craft to complex, information-dense interfaces

Trust and control
  • Make important actions, permissions, and system states easy to understand

  • Design thoughtful feedback, error, and recovery experiences for different user needs

End-to-end product design
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, and Research to turn complex requirements into intuitive solutions

  • Prototype, deliver, and refine high-quality experiences from concept through launch

What we're looking for
  • Experience designing and shipping digital products, with a portfolio that demonstrates strong interaction and visual design craft

  • Ability to simplify complex workflows and information-heavy interfaces without losing important functionality

  • Strong information architecture skills, including organizing settings, navigation, and content around user needs

  • Experience designing beyond the happy path, including different user states, permissions, errors, and recovery paths

  • Systems thinking and an eye for consistency across related product experiences

  • Ability to independently own well-scoped product initiatives from exploration through implementation

  • Sound product judgment, including the ability to explore alternatives, explain trade-offs, and make thoughtful recommendations

  • Strong partnership with Product and Engineering, including comfort working through technical constraints

  • Experience using research, customer feedback, or product data to inform design decisions

  • Ability to prototype interactions so teams can evaluate how an experience works, not just how it looks

  • Fluency with AI-assisted design tools and curiosity about new ways to improve design quality and speed

  • A collaborative mindset, openness to feedback, and a desire to continually improve your craft

Nice to have
  • Experience designing B2B SaaS, enterprise, or productivity software

  • Experience with administrative tools, permissions, account management, or configuration workflows

  • Familiarity with identity management, provisioning, or enterprise security concepts

  • Experience working with design systems across complex products

  • Experience designing collaboration or multi-user experiences

Direct enterprise-software experience is not required. We care more about your ability to bring clarity, craft, and sound judgment to complex product experiences.

How design works here:

Design operates as a peer to Product, not a downstream service. Designers help define problems, explore solutions, make trade-offs, and own the quality of what ships.

This is a hands-on role with meaningful ownership and room to grow. You'll work closely with Product, Engineering, Research, and other designers, taking projects from early exploration through implementation. You'll have the opportunity to contribute to product direction while developing your craft and judgment alongside an experienced team. You'll help establish high-quality, consistent experiences that make Read easier to adopt and use across organizations.

And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
