At PitchBook, a Morningstar company, we are always looking forward. We continue to innovate, evolve, and invest in ourselves to bring out the best in everyone. We’re deeply collaborative and thrive on the excitement, energy, and fun that reverberates throughout the company.

Our extensive learning programs and mentorship opportunities help us create a culture of curiosity that pushes us to always find new solutions and better ways of doing things. The combination of a rapidly evolving industry and our high ambitions means there’s going to be some ambiguity along the way, but we excel when we challenge ourselves. We’re willing to take risks, fail fast, and do it all over again in the pursuit of excellence.

If you have a good attitude and are willing to roll up your sleeves to get things done, PitchBook is the place for you.

About the Role:

As a member of the Product and Engineering team at PitchBook, you will be part of a team of big thinkers, innovators, and problem solvers who strive to deepen the positive impact we have on our customers and our company every day. We value curiosity and the drive to find better ways of doing things. We thrive on customer empathy, which remains our focus when creating excellent customer experiences through product innovation.

We know that greatness is achieved through collaboration and diverse points of view, so we work closely with partners around the globe. As a team, we assume positive intent in each other’s words and actions, value constructive discussions, and foster a respectful working environment built on integrity, growth, and business value. We invest heavily in our people, who are eager to learn and constantly improve. Join our team and grow with us!

As a Technical Product Manager, Platform Engineering at PitchBook, you will own the product strategy and roadmap for the foundational tools, services, and developer experiences that more than a hundred PitchBook engineers depend on every day. You will partner with the engineering managers and staff engineers who run the Platform Engineering teams to translate company-level objectives into a clear platform roadmap, prioritize the highest-leverage investments, and ensure the platform compounds in value over time.

Your charter spans the surfaces that shape the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) — internal developer platforms, CI/CD, cloud infrastructure, observability, and the shared services that move developer lead time, deployment frequency, change failure rate, and platform reliability at the org level. You will operate as a force multiplier for Product, Engineering, Security, and SRE by defining clear product strategy, framing ambiguous problems into shippable initiatives, and holding the team accountable to measurable outcomes.

You exhibit a growth mindset, willing to solicit feedback, engage others with empathy, and help create a culture of belonging, teamwork and purpose. If you love building the products that other builders depend on, strive for excellence every day, and believe the best platform PMs are also the best listeners, come join us!

A defining theme of this role is the AI enabled product delivery experience. You own the product side strategy for how AI is woven through the tools used by engineers, product managers, designers, etc. across PitchBook's product delivery lifecycle — from the IDE to incident response, from product discovery to release notes — in partnership with ML Ops and the Platform Engineering team.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Own the product vision and roadmap for the Platform Engineering domain, including internal developer platforms, CI/CD, cloud infrastructure, and developer tooling used by every product team at PitchBook
  • Partner closely with Platform Engineering managers and staff engineers to translate strategy into requirements, priorities, and milestones, ensuring fast and reliable delivery
  • Lead discovery efforts to understand the workflows of engineers, product managers, designers, and other roles in the product delivery lifecycle, translating pain points into high-impact product initiatives
  • Define and operate the success metrics for the platform — developer lead time, deployment frequency, change failure rate, platform reliability, adoption, and cloud unit economics — and hold the org accountable to them
  • Drive alignment across Engineering, Product, Security, SRE, Legal, and other stakeholders to balance velocity, safety, and scale
  • Ensure successful experiments and prototypes are operationalized into reusable, production-grade platform capabilities and golden paths that promote consistency, trust, and ease of adoption
  • Own the product side of the AI enabled product delivery experience. Scope and prioritize AI powered features and golden paths across the tooling used by every role in product delivery, in partnership with ML Ops and Platform Engineering
  • Translate AI driven productivity opportunities into a credible roadmap with measurable outcomes across product delivery, such as adoption of AI capabilities by each role, lead time, review throughput, incident MTTR, and documentation freshness, rather than activity
  • Communicate roadmap, tradeoffs, and progress clearly to engineering, product, and executive audiences; influence Director and VP-level decisions
  • Champion responsible, secure, and scalable AI usage across the organization
  • Support the vision and values of the company through role modeling and encouraging desired behaviors
  • Participate in various company initiatives and projects as requested

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a similar field; or equivalent practical experience
  • 3+ years of product management experience, with at least 2 years on technical platforms, developer tools, infrastructure, or internal products
  • Strong technical acumen and the ability to engage credibly with platform engineers on complex systems — CI/CD pipelines, internal developer platforms, container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker), infrastructure-as-code, and cloud infrastructure (AWS or GCP)
  • Experience defining and reporting on developer productivity and platform effectiveness metrics (DORA, SPACE, or equivalent)
  • Proven ability to operate in ambiguous problem spaces and translate them into clear product direction
  • Experience prioritizing across competing initiatives using data, user input, and business context
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence Director level stakeholders across technical and non-technical audiences
  • Hands-on familiarity with AI/ML systems, including Generative AI and LLM-based workflows; comfortable making build versus buy calls on AI tooling and reporting productivity impact. Working understanding of responsible AI patterns including cost, safety, data handling, and governance, sufficient to set product standards across teams
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
