DomainTools is the leader in domain and DNS-based cyber threat intelligence. We help the world's most advanced security teams—including Fortune 100 companies, global government agencies, and leading security solution vendors—to identify external risks, investigate threats, and proactively protect their organizations. Our mission is to make the internet a safer place, and we believe it all starts with knowing who's behind a domain.

We are a collaborative, mission-driven team with a culture built on Integrity, Customer Focus, Impact, Teamwork, Innovation, and Joy. We are looking for a motivated and curious intern to join our dynamic Product Marketing team.

The Role

As the Product Marketing Intern, you will play a vital role in helping us tell the DomainTools story to our highly technical audience of cybersecurity professionals. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on B2B marketing experience at a leading cybersecurity company. You will work directly with our marketing and product teams to support go-to-market (GTM) strategies, help craft compelling messaging, and develop content that resonates with security analysts and threat hunters.

This internship is designed to be flexible and align with your academic schedule. You will gain practical experience in core product marketing functions, build a portfolio of work, and learn what it takes to market complex technical products.

What You'll Do

  • 🕵️ Market & Competitive Research: Assist the team in analyzing competitor messaging, product launches, and market trends. You'll help us understand the "why" behind what our users and buyers want and where our products align with the biggest needs facing the infosec community.
  • ✍️ Content & Messaging Support: Help draft and refine marketing content, such as blog post outlines, social media snippets, and presentation slides. You'll learn to translate technical product features (like those in our Iris platform) into clear, value-driven benefits ("so what?").
  • 📊 Sales Enablement: Support the creation of materials that help our sales team succeed, such as updating data sheets, building competitor "battlecards," or finding customer case study examples.
  • 🚀 GTM Support: Observe and contribute to go-to-market (GTM) planning sessions, helping to track deliverables for new product features and launches.
  • 📣 Voice of the Customer: Help review and synthesize feedback from customer interviews and surveys to identify key themes and insights for the marketing team.

Requirements
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program, pursuing a degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Available to work 5-10 hours per week during the academic semester.
  • This is an unpaid internship, available for college credit only. We are committed to providing a valuable educational experience and will work with your institution to ensure all requirements for credit are met.
  • Excellent writer and communicator: You can take a complex idea and make it clear and engaging.
  • Deeply curious: You have a genuine interest in technology, cybersecurity, or B2B marketing. You don't need to be a security expert, but you must be excited to learn.
  • Proactive and organized: You are a self-starter who can manage your time effectively and are not afraid to ask questions.
  • Collaborative spirit: You enjoy working with a team and contributing to a shared goal.

What You'll Gain

  • Real-world experience in B2B product marketing within the fast-growing cybersecurity industry.
  • Mentorship from experienced marketing professionals.
  • A portfolio of work (e.g., content, research briefs) that you can showcase to future employers.
  • A clear understanding of how to market and sell a highly technical product to a specialized audience.
  • A behind-the-scenes look at how a mission-driven tech company operates.

This is an unpaid internship offered for academic credit only; monetary compensation is not available. The primary goal is the intern's education and training, not to generate immediate advantage for the employer. The experience is designed to provide valuable, hands-on learning similar to an educational environment, and there is no guarantee of a paid position at the conclusion of the internship. The intern will work under close supervision of existing staff and will not displace regular employees.

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
