At Submittable, technology and purpose converge, offering a unique opportunity to contribute to meaningful change.

We’re looking for a Product Owner to join our high-performing, mission-driven Professional Services (ProServ) team. In this role, you’ll act as the critical link between our clients’ business needs and our engineering capabilities by translating complex requirements into impactful, scalable solutions.

Our mission is to empower our users to accelerate change in the world with confidence. Through best practices in software adoption, deep expertise in grants and CSR, and enterprise-level service, we deliver value quickly, build trust, and help future-proof our clients’ programs.

Success in this role is defined by your ability to maximize engineering efficiency while delivering exceptional customer outcomes. You’ll work across client-facing engagements and internal teams, ensuring the right work is prioritized, clearly defined, and delivered with quality.

This is a full-time position that reports to the Senior Manager of Technical Professional Services.

How You’ll Make an Impact
  • Translate complex customer requirements into clear, actionable features that align with client goals and technical capabilities
  • Own and prioritize the product backlog, ensuring all work is well-defined, scoped, and ready for development
  • Lead backlog refinement and support sprint execution by keeping engineering teams focused, unblocked, and aligned
  • Define clear acceptance criteria to ensure delivered solutions meet both client expectations and technical standards
  • Proactively identify dependencies, risks, and blockers, and drive solutions to maintain delivery momentum
  • Serve as the primary liaison between client stakeholders, Professional Services, Project Management, and Engineering teams
  • Facilitate alignment across business and technical partners to ensure shared understanding and successful outcomes
  • Occasionally manage smaller client engagements end-to-end, ensuring timely delivery and strong communication
  • Support Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, refinement, retrospectives, and standups as needed
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships and contribute to a collaborative, high-performing team environment
  • Partner with globally distributed teams, including collaborating with engineers in India (~15% of your time, with some schedule flexibility required)

What We’re Looking For

  • Agile Product Ownership: At least 2 years of experience managing backlogs, refining user stories, and defining clear acceptance criteria (Jira or similar tools)
  • Project Delivery: Proven ability to manage projects or features end-to-end, ensuring work is delivered on time and aligned to requirements
  • Client-Centric Approach: Experience working directly with clients or stakeholders to gather requirements, manage expectations, and deliver value
  • Technical Aptitude: Comfortable collaborating with engineering teams and able to learn and apply technical concepts such as APIs, integrations, and system workflows
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Ability to work effectively across Product, Engineering, and Project Management to drive alignment and execution
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex or ambiguous requirements into clear, actionable plan
  • Prioritization & Execution: Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and keep work moving forward in a fast-paced environment

Location: This is a remote, U.S.-based role and you must live and reside in the U.S. full-time.

Compensation: The annual salary for this position is $90,000-110,000. Actual compensation is based on factors such as the candidate's skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

We are interested in every qualified candidate eligible to work in the United States; however, we cannot accommodate scholastic or employment visas at this time. In addition, we are not able to consider applicants who reside in the following states: Alaska, Delaware, Louisiana, Maine, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wyoming.

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
