Perform manual QA for web applications across UI, database, batch, and web service layers. Create and maintain test cases and scripts in HP ALM and JIRA, set up test data using SQL/PL/SQL, execute integration and data conversion testing, log and track defects, collaborate with BAs and QA Lead, and produce documentation and reports using MS Office.
This is a remote position.
The QA Associate/Analyst will support the Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) on software quality assurance initiatives. This role collaborates with development teams and program staff to ensure that DFPS business needs are accurately reflected in the quality and usability of software code prior to release. The analyst mitigates timeline and accuracy risks by identifying defects in software before deployment to internal and external customers. Strong analytical, interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills are essential, along with extensive experience in manual software testing within complex environments.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain test cases for integration, data conversion, and system testing.
- Develop, maintain, and upgrade manual test scripts to support software quality assurance activities.
- Review, analyze, and execute manual test cases within HP ALM and JIRA.
- Collaborate with the project Business Analyst to accurately interpret business processes and requirements.
- Coordinate with the QA Lead to determine assignments and meet established deadlines.
- Create, maintain, and track application defects using HP ALM and JIRA.
- Set up and manage test data using SQL and PL/SQL.
- Test data conversions, web services, and batch processes using various toolsets.
- Utilize the full MS Office suite to support documentation and reporting needs.
- Perform web-based application testing across UI, database, batch, and web service layers.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications - Candidates must meet all minimum requirements
- 8 years of experience testing all aspects of web-based applications, including UI, database, batch, and web services.
- 8 years of experience formulating test scenarios, creating detailed test cases, and performing manual application testing within a complex software environment.
- 5 years of experience working in a team environment and interacting with a diverse level of staff to exchange and extract information.
- 5 years of experience developing, maintaining, and upgrading test cases using HP ALM and/or JIRA.
- 5 years of experience creating and maintaining defects using HP ALM and/or JIRA.
- 5 years of experience with MS Office products, including Word and Excel.
- 2 years of experience setting up test data using SQL and PL/SQL.
- 1 year of experience testing data conversions.
- 1 year of experience testing web services and batch processes using various toolsets.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3 years of working knowledge of browser testing tools.
- 3 years of working knowledge of SharePoint.
- 1 year of working knowledge of test automation tools such as Selenium, LoadRunner, and accessibility testing, including the ability to troubleshoot integrations with HP ALM and JIRA.
- 1 year of experience testing within the Salesforce application.
- 1 year of working knowledge of accessibility testing tools such as JAWS, Wave, and CCA.
Additional Requirements
- Texas based candidates preferred.
- Will be required to physically pick up agency-issued equipment in Austin, TX and attend an onboarding session on their first day of contract.
- Criminal background check as authorized by Texas law.
