About Zumiez

Since 1978, Zumiez has been a beacon for the action sports lifestyle, offering an array of apparel, equipment, and accessories that resonate with the adventurous spirits of our customers, allowing them to individuate. Our dedication to our customer fuels innovation and growth, marking our retail presence as distinctive and dynamic.

Role Summary
At Zumiez, we believe that proactive quality assurance is central to creating incredible customer experiences. We are seeking a passionate and detail-driven QA Developer to help architect a more resilient, reliable, and customer-centric technology ecosystem.

As a QA Developer, you won't simply react to issues - you will anticipate them. You'll actively build continuous regression and monitoring strategies, proactively test critical paths, and ensure a seamless cross-platform experience. You will collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and business stakeholders to safeguard our technical excellence and customer satisfaction.

What You’ll Do

  • Build, maintain, and evolve a library of automated and manual test cases for customer-facing mobile and web applications.
  • Perform integration and system testing across Zumiez digital platforms.
  • Design and execute continuous regression testing and monitoring strategies across systems to ensure stability throughout ongoing releases.
  • Work collaboratively with project and product managers to build testing strategies for cross-functional projects.
  • Evaluate how failures in one system affect the entire customer journey; prioritize fixes based on customer and business impact.
  • Lead initiatives to improve the QA process, including best practices for proactive defect identification and cross-platform consistency.
  • Be an advocate for quality, raising issues and pushing back on problematic code or designs in a collaborative manner.
  • Ad-hoc support and incident resolution as needed, including being on-call during peak selling periods to maximize business uptime.
What You Bring
  • 5+ years of experience in QA development, automation, and proactive system monitoring.
  • Proficient with automation tools such as Selenium, Playwright, BrowserStack, or similar frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience with GraphQL and RESTful APIs.
  • Familiarity with web and mobile application architecture.
  • Strong understanding of cross-platform testing (desktop, mobile web, mobile app).
  • Demonstrated success implementing continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) quality gates.
  • Proven experience in proactively monitoring systems (using tools like New Relic) and suggesting preemptive improvements.
  • Ability to think critically about end-to-end customer journeys and identify risks outside of traditional test case boundaries.
  • Familiar with and capable of implementing industry standard QA methodologies and test case management.
You’ll Fit Right In If You Are
  • Collaborative: Able to work effectively with others while holding firm on quality standards.
  • Change Agent: Comfortable forcing positive change by challenging assumptions and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Strong Communicator: Skilled at articulating complex problems clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Detail-Oriented: Meticulous in identifying subtle issues that could degrade customer experience.
  • Proactive Mindset: Focuses on finding and fixing issues before they impact the customer, not just reacting to tickets.
What We Offer
  • A competitive compensation package:
    • Health, Vision, and Dental insurance (following an initial wait period)
    • Basic life insurance and supplemental voluntary life insurance
    • Disability insurance
    • Paid Parental Leave
    • Paid Sick Leave (following an initial wait period)
    • Paid Vacation (following an initial wait period)
    • Employee Assistance Program
    • Healthcare Flexible Spending Account (FSA)
    • Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account (FSA)
    • Zumiez merchandise discount
    • 401(k) plan after meeting eligibility requirements
    • Employee Stock Purchase Program (ESPP) after meeting eligibility requirements
    • Compensation for Role in Addition to Base Salary
    • Bonus eligibility
  • A collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • The opportunity to drive quality across critical commerce experiences.
  • An influential role in leading Zumiez into the future.
