About TurbineOne

TurbineOne is building Mission-AI for the Frontlines. Our Frontline Perception System (FPS) helps military and national security operators detect threats, accelerate decision-making, and unlock the power of AI at the tactical edge. We partner directly with frontline users to deliver mission-ready capabilities that work in real-world environments where speed, trust, and reliability matter most.

Our team is composed of experienced technologists, veterans, and operators committed to advancing national security through responsible innovation.

As a remote-first, high-growth startup, we move quickly, solve difficult problems, and hold ourselves to a high standard. We value people who are collaborative, humble, action-oriented, and excited to build alongside a team that cares deeply about its mission and each other.

About the Role

We're looking for a Recruiter (Product and Engineering) with approximately 4–7 years of full-cycle recruiting experience who loves the craft of recruiting and wants to build a long-term career as an exceptional individual contributor.

Reporting directly to the Head of Talent, you'll execute recruiting strategies for many of TurbineOne's most critical technical hires. You'll work closely with the Head of Talent, engineering leaders, hiring managers, and Recruiting Operations to identify, engage, and hire exceptional technical talent while delivering an outstanding candidate experience from first outreach through offer acceptance.

While this role will occasionally support non-technical hiring, your primary focus will be recruiting highly specialized engineering talent in a competitive market. You should genuinely enjoy learning complex technical domains, building relationships with passive candidates, and solving difficult hiring challenges through thoughtful sourcing, not relying solely on inbound applicants.

This role is intentionally designed for someone who wants to build a long-term career as an individual contributor recruiter. We're looking for someone who loves recruiting itself, not someone looking for a quick path into recruiting management, HR, People Operations, or Talent Programs. If you find satisfaction in sourcing exceptional engineers, building meaningful relationships, partnering with hiring managers, and continually improving your recruiting craft, you'll thrive here.

We're particularly interested in recruiters who have recruited in-house for high-growth technology startups, where speed, ownership, adaptability, and close partnership with engineering leaders were essential to success.

What You'll Do
  • Execute recruiting strategies in partnership with the Head of Talent for many of TurbineOne's most critical technical hires.
  • Own the full recruitment lifecycle for assigned searches, from intake through accepted offer.
  • Recruit primarily for highly technical engineering positions while occasionally supporting key non-technical hiring initiatives.
  • Develop creative sourcing strategies to identify and engage exceptional passive technical talent.
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with engineers and technical leaders, creating pipelines for future hiring needs.
  • Partner closely with engineering leaders and hiring managers to understand technical requirements, calibrate candidate quality, and provide market insights throughout the hiring process.
  • Deliver an exceptional, high-touch candidate experience through proactive communication, transparency, responsiveness, and thoughtful follow-up.
  • Represent TurbineOne's mission and culture with authenticity and professionalism in every candidate interaction.
  • Maintain momentum across multiple searches with a strong sense of urgency while never sacrificing candidate quality or candidate experience.
  • Maintain accurate recruiting data within Greenhouse and contribute to continuous improvement of recruiting processes.
Types of Roles You'll Recruit

We're looking for someone with a proven track record of successfully recruiting highly specialized technical talent similar to the roles below. While we value curiosity and high aptitude at TurbineOne, this role requires someone who can contribute immediately. The ideal candidate has already built relationships within technical communities, understands these talent markets, and is comfortable recruiting niche engineering talent from day one.

Your primary focus will include recruiting for roles such as:

  • Machine Learning Engineers
  • Applied AI / Applied Research Engineers
  • Computer Vision Engineers
  • Software Engineers
  • Full Stack Engineers
  • Frontend Engineers
  • Backend Engineers
  • Platform Engineers
  • Infrastructure Engineers
  • DevOps Engineers
  • Autonomy Engineers
  • Robotics Engineers
  • Forward Deployed Engineers
  • Field Engineers
  • Product Managers
  • Technical Program Managers
What Makes You Successful in This Role

This role is designed for an experienced technical recruiter who can make an immediate impact. We're looking for someone who has successfully recruited this type of talent before and is excited to jump in and contribute from day one. Just as importantly, we're looking for someone who genuinely loves recruiting and wants to build a long-term career as an exceptional recruiter. If you're happiest sourcing difficult-to-find engineers, building meaningful candidate relationships, and partnering with hiring managers to make outstanding hires, you'll thrive here.

The ideal candidate brings most of the following experience and strengths:

  • Approximately 4–7 years of full-cycle recruiting experience, with the majority of that experience focused on recruiting for Engineering and Product teams.
  • Experience recruiting in-house for a high-growth technology startup.
  • A proven track record of recruiting highly specialized engineering talent, with demonstrated success hiring for roles similar to those listed above.
  • Experience recruiting software engineers and other niche technical talent in competitive markets, including sourcing and engaging passive candidates.
  • Strong partnership experience with engineering leaders and technical hiring managers, translating hiring needs into thoughtful recruiting strategies and consistently delivering high-quality candidates.
  • Exceptional sourcing skills, with a proven ability to identify, engage, and close passive technical talent through creative outreach and relationship building, not relying primarily on inbound applicants.
  • The ability to quickly understand complex technical domains, including AI, machine learning, autonomy, robotics, and modern software engineering and translate that knowledge into effective recruiting strategies.
  • Proven success managing multiple technical searches simultaneously while maintaining a high bar for candidate quality, speed, and hiring manager partnership.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build credibility and trust with engineers, hiring managers, and candidates alike.
  • Exceptional organization, attention to detail, and follow-through.
  • A strong sense of urgency balanced with sound judgment and thoughtful decision-making.
  • A passion for delivering a high-touch, personalized candidate experience that reflects TurbineOne's values and employer brand.
  • A collaborative, low-ego mindset with the ability to execute recruiting strategies developed in partnership with the Head of Talent while building trusted relationships across the organization.
  • A genuine passion for recruiting as a profession. You're not looking to use recruiting as a stepping stone into HR, People Operations, Talent Programs, or people management; you want to become an exceptional recruiter. You take pride in your craft, enjoy solving difficult hiring challenges, and are excited to continue growing as a high-performing individual contributor.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience recruiting within a Defense Tech, Robotics, or Autonomy company.
  • Experience recruiting candidates with active U.S. security clearances.
  • Experience recruiting engineers supporting AI, machine learning, autonomy, robotics, or national security technologies.
  • Experience using Greenhouse, LinkedIn Recruiter, Gem, and other modern recruiting platforms.
Who You Are

The ideal recruiter is someone who:

  • You believe exceptional recruiting begins with exceptional sourcing. Rather than treating sourcing as a separate function, you see it as an essential part of recruiting itself. You genuinely enjoy the challenge of identifying hard-to-find talent, earning the attention of passive candidates, and building authentic relationships that lead to outstanding hires.
  • Understands that recruiting is relationship-driven, not transaction-driven.
  • Believes candidate quality matters more than candidate volume.
  • Delivers a thoughtful, personalized, and high-touch candidate experience.
  • Builds trust with hiring managers through strong execution and sound judgment.
  • Operates with humility, curiosity, urgency, and ownership.
  • Has a low-ego, team-first mindset; you welcome feedback, share credit generously, and care more about building a great company than receiving individual recognition.
  • Is deeply connected to our mission; you understand that every hire directly contributes to our ability to deliver Mission-AI to those serving on the frontlines, and you approach recruiting with a sense of purpose and responsibility.
  • Loves recruiting enough to make it your career; not simply your next step toward another function.
Why Join TurbineOne?

At TurbineOne, recruiting isn't just about filling roles; it's about building the team that's advancing Mission-AI for the Frontlines.

As a Recruiter at TurbineOne, you'll have a direct impact on the growth of our engineering organization and the future of our products. You'll partner with exceptional technical leaders, recruit some of the industry's most sought-after talent, and help solve meaningful problems in AI, autonomy, computer vision, robotics, and national security.

You'll join a team that believes recruiting is a craft. We care deeply about the experience every candidate has with TurbineOne, the quality of every hire we make, and the long-term relationships we build with the engineering community. We believe exceptional recruiting is thoughtful, personalized, and relationship-driven, not transactional.

If you're passionate about sourcing exceptional engineers, love partnering with technical leaders, and are excited to build a long-term career as an outstanding recruiter, we'd love to meet you.

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
