Job Title:  Regional Sales Manager, Northeast (incl. Illinois)

Department: EP Cube

Entity:

Location: Home Office with Extensive Territory Travel – Northeast Region, including Illinois

Reports to:  Director of Sales

Position Summary:

Canadian Solar is seeking a driven, technically minded Regional Sales Manager for our Residential Energy Storage product: EP Cube. This role is built for a true hunter—an ambitious, resilient salesperson who is energized by opening new doors, creating demand, and fighting through obstacles to win in a competitive market. You will be trusted to build strong customer relationships, uncover and develop new business opportunities, and drive sales growth across the Northeast territory, including Illinois.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can navigate challenges, overcome objections, and stay focused on results while positioning Canadian Solar and EP Cube as market share leaders. This role requires extensive face-to-face travel with partners and is designed to stand out to top-tier sales professionals who want ownership, accountability, and the opportunity to make a measurable impact.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Own new business development across the Northeast territory, including Illinois, by aggressively identifying, prospecting, qualifying, and converting high-potential installers, distributors, and channel partner opportunities for EP Cube.

  • Build a strong pipeline of new revenue opportunities by opening doors with target accounts, creating demand for residential energy storage, and positioning Canadian Solar and EP Cube as a preferred partner in the market.

  • Develop deep, trusted relationships with new and existing distribution and installation partners; understand their business priorities, technical needs, objections, and growth goals, then align EP Cube solutions to help them succeed.

  • Travel extensively, approximately 60% or more throughout the year across the Northeast territory, including Illinois, to drive face-to-face engagement, conduct technical and commercial discussions, strengthen partner relationships, and accelerate sales growth.

  • Manage the full sales cycle for residential energy storage opportunities, including lead generation, account qualification, technical education, proposal development, objection handling, negotiation, and deal closure.

  • Use Salesforce and other business tools with strong discipline to track activity, manage pipeline, forecast sales, monitor conversion progress, and measure performance against individual and team KPIs for revenue growth, sales volume, market share, and partner acquisition.

  • Create and execute a territory growth plan that prioritizes the highest-value markets, target accounts, installer segments, distributor relationships, and business development activities needed to exceed sales objectives.

  • Partner closely with Sales leadership, Operations, Planning, Product, Technical Support, and other internal teams to communicate market feedback, align revenue forecasts, remove barriers, and ensure customers receive the support needed to win.

  • Collect competitive intelligence, market trends, customer feedback, pricing insights, and territory data from the field; share actionable recommendations that strengthen EP Cube’s position and support broader team success.

  • Represent Canadian Solar and EP Cube at trade shows, conferences, partner events, and customer meetings with professionalism, strong product knowledge, and a clear focus on developing and closing new sales opportunities.

  • Support product bankability by helping customers, financing partners, and other stakeholders understand Canadian Solar’s strength, EP Cube’s value proposition, and the business case for residential energy storage adoption.

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven B2B sales success in energy storage, battery systems, solar, distributed energy, or a closely related clean energy market, with a strong preference for candidates who have sold technical products through installer, distributor, dealer, or channel partner networks.

  • A true hunter mentality: demonstrated ability to prospect aggressively, open new doors, create demand, qualify opportunities, and build a territory from the ground up.

  • Strong resilience and follow-through, with the ability to push through objections, setbacks, competitive pressure, and complex customer challenges while staying focused on results.

  • Ability to quickly understand customer needs across the Northeast territory, including Illinois, and translate technical, financial, and market challenges into clear sales opportunities.

  • Willingness and excitement to travel extensively, approximately 60% or more throughout the year across the Northeast territory, including Illinois, based on business priorities, customer needs, and sales growth opportunities.

  • Must live within the assigned territory and within approximately one hour of a major airport to support frequent in-person customer meetings, partner development, trade shows, and field activity.

  • Experience developing and executing a personal sales playbook, including lead generation strategy, account targeting, pipeline creation, CRM discipline, and territory planning.

  • Strong ability to identify decision makers, understand buying criteria, uncover hesitation, overcome objections, and close business in complex, relationship-driven sales environments.

  • Excellent presentation and communication skills across in-person meetings, video calls, phone conversations, email, and executive-level customer discussions.

  • High level of self-motivation, accountability, coachability, and professionalism, with the ability to thrive in a remote role while working closely with internal teams.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, and CRM tools such as Salesforce; strong CRM discipline is expected for pipeline management, forecasting, and activity tracking.

  • Understanding of Virtual Power Plant (VPP) programs and Energy Storage Systems (ESS), with the ability to speak credibly with partners about how EP Cube can support storage, grid services, and residential energy programs.

  • A Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in business, engineering, supply chain, or a related field is preferred but not required; equivalent industry experience will be considered.

  • Bilingual abilities, including Spanish, Portuguese, Mandarin, Chinese, or other relevant languages, are a plus but not required.

Compensation and Benefits:

Canadian Solar offers a competitive salary plus fully comprehensive benefits and performance bonus package based on an annual objective achievement. Our generous benefits package includes a 401(k) Retirement Plan, medical/dental/life/disability program, PTO and sick days. This is a full-time position.
