Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.

  • Provides direct patient care, including administering medications, performing procedures, and monitoring patient status in accordance with approved nursing practice.

  • Rooms pediatric cardiology patients in the outpatient clinic, including obtaining vital signs, reviewing history, preparing patients and families for provider evaluation, and assisting during visits as needed.

  • Performs inpatient and outpatient EKGs when other staff are unavailable.

  • Provides appropriate counseling and education to patients and families regarding disease processes, testing, and symptom management.

  • Maintains accurate and timely medical records in accordance with documentation standards.

  • Consults with members of the healthcare team and adjusts nursing care processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

  • Assists healthcare providers with examinations, procedures, prescription refills, and other activities related to direct patient care.

  • Provides phone triage for urgent cardiac event monitor–related calls for the Cardiac Testing Unit (Heart Station) at St. Louis Children’s Hospital, escalating clinical concerns per established protocols.

  • Oversees the placement, tracking, troubleshooting, and distribution of cardiac monitors.

  • Travels to satellite clinic locations a few times per month using employer‑supplied transportation to support patient care and clinic operations.

  • Maintains required skills and competencies and participates in educational programs, staff meetings, and required certifications (e.g., CPR).

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary Range$56,200.00 - $96,100.00 / Annually
