Lead and grow a mid-market B2B SaaS sales team while carrying individual deals. Own quarterly revenue and pipeline targets, coach account executives, manage forecasting and CRM discipline, hire and onboard sales talent, build partner and referral channels, and collaborate with Product. The role also requires developing AI workflows to improve prospecting, deal reviews, reporting, and sales execution.

beehiiv is where the world's best newsletters, podcasts, and digital products are built, grown, and distributed.
The platform combines email, podcast hosting, websites, community, and digital products — connected to a single audience and a single set of tools to publish, grow, and monetize.
As we approach $50M in annualized revenue and continue to grow almost 100% YoY, our rapidly growing product suite and incredibly strong brand position us for the next stage of hypergrowth.

We’re hiring a Sales Manager to lead and grow our sales team. You’ll coach a small (but mighty!) team of AEs while still running deals yourself. Our customers are newsletter-first media companies, publishers, and brands, many of them moving off tools that weren’t purpose-built for media-first operators, like Sailthru, Salesforce, Iterable, Mailchimp, etc. Most of our deals are mid-market, and we want someone who has built a repeatable motion at that size and can help us win bigger deals as our product suite expands.

This is a player-coach role. You’ll own the team’s quarterly number, build the pipeline to hit it, and hire the AEs who help us scale. We look for creative, hungry people who are AI-first: reaching for AI to work smarter, building their own workflows, and finding new ways to sell.

Candidates must be based in the U.S. Compensation depends on experience. To apply, you must complete our Values Assessment Questionnaire here. We will consider your responses alongside your qualifications and experience as part of our overall hiring process.

Ideally, you’ll have:

  • 6+ years in B2B SaaS sales, including 3+ years leading or coaching AEs (as a manager, team lead, or player-coach)
  • A track record of hitting a team number on mid-market deals, roughly $10K-$100K ACVs
  • Experience winning competitive displacements and migrations, ideally against email service providers or marketing automation platforms
  • Strong pipeline discipline: you know your coverage, win rates, and deal velocity, and you act on them
  • Comfort running a clean CRM and a forecast leadership can trust (HubSpot a plus)
  • Experience hiring and onboarding AEs and SDRs
  • Hands-on experience building with AI tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT, automation platforms) to streamline your work, such as custom workflows, agents, dashboards or reporting
  • Media, publishing, creator economy or martech experience is a huge plus
  • Experience selling alongside a product-led growth / self-serve motion is a plus

What you’ll be responsible for:

  • Owning the number: Hit quarterly closed-won and new pipeline goals for new business and sales-led expansion (existing customers moving more publications or properties to beehiiv).
  • Coaching the team: Run weekly 1:1s, pipeline reviews, and deal reviews on our largest opportunities. Raise the bar on discovery, demos, POCs, and closing.
  • Carrying deals: Work your own deals and step into key deals across the team, especially larger, multi-stakeholder ones.
  • Building pipeline: Partner with our Enterprise Marketing team to grow pipe across website, outbound, referrals, and events. Build our referral and partner programs with existing enterprise customers.
  • Running the system: Keep HubSpot clean, with accurate stages, close dates, and loss reasons, so our forecast holds up, and we learn from every deal we lose.
  • Closing the loop with Product: Bring what you hear in deals back to Product, especially as we launch new products to win bigger deals and move upmarket.
  • Growing the team: Hire, onboard, and ramp new AEs as we scale.
  • Building with AI: Build and test AI workflows for the team, from prospect research to POCs to deal reviews, and share what works.

Why this role might be for you:

  • You've built a repeatable mid-market motion and still want to carry a bag.
  • You still love closing deals and want to make the people around you better at it.
  • You're comfortable working in ambiguous, fast-paced environments.
  • You're obsessed with customer outcomes and accelerating company growth.
  • You're a clear, concise communicator and can develop cohesive, data-driven narratives verbally and in writing.

Why this role might not be for you:

  • Not a traditional 9-to-5 position
  • You want to manage a large team without carrying deals yourself
  • Need to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders
  • Not comfortable with rapid iteration and frequent context switching
  • High expectations for both speed and quality
  • Must navigate complex organizational dynamics

Why beehiiv?

We'll take care of you:

  • Competitive salary
  • Stock options
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) employer match
  • Unlimited PTO (mandatory 10 days per year minimum)
  • Annual in-person team offsite
  • Unlimited book budget
  • Monthly Wellness Days (every third Friday of the month)

To apply, you must complete our Values Assessment Questionnaire here.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
