JOB MISSION

Pacific Lifestyle Homes is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Senior Accountant to support the company’s accounting and financial reporting functions. This position is responsible for preparing financial reports, performing account reconciliations, assisting with audit activities, conducting variance analysis, and supporting compliance requirements within a residential construction and land development environment.

The ideal candidate will possess strong technical accounting skills, a solid understanding of GAAP, and experience working in construction, homebuilding, real estate development, or related industries. This role is best suited for a highly capable accounting professional who thrives as an individual contributor and enjoys working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Financial Reporting & Accounting

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and supplemental reports in accordance with GAAP. 
  • Perform account reconciliations and review financial data for accuracy and completeness. 
  • Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and other month-end close activities. 
  • Support the month-end and year-end close process to ensure timely and accurate reporting. 
  • Assist with consolidated financial reporting across multiple entities and projects. 

Financial Analysis

  • Perform financial and variance analysis related to construction costs, development activity, and operational performance. 
  • Analyze budget-to-actual results and provide explanations for significant variances and trends. 
  • Assist management with financial reporting and analytical support for operational decision-making. 

Audit & Compliance

  • Assist with preparation for annual external CPA audits, including gathering schedules and supporting documentation. 
  • Support loan, bank, and lender reporting and compliance requirements, and other financial reporting obligations as needed. 
  • Ensure accounting practices and reporting comply with GAAP and company policies. 

Construction & Development Accounting

  • Support accounting activities related to: 
    • Job cost accounting 
    • Land development tracking 
    • Construction accruals 
    • Community cost reporting 
    • Work-in-process analysis 
  • Review project costs and ensure accurate coding and reporting. 

Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and reporting efficiency. 
  • Assist with implementation and enhancement of accounting systems and procedures. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional departments to resolve accounting issues and improve financial accuracy. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. 
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience. 
  • Strong understanding of GAAP. 
  • Experience with financial statement preparation and account reconciliations. 
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. 
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. 
  • Experience in residential construction, homebuilding, land development, real estate development, commercial real estate, or manufacturing.
  • CPA or CPA candidate preferred. 
  • Experience with construction accounting systems and job costing. 
  • Experience supporting external audits.
