JOB SUMMARY:

We are looking for a DBA Developer with significant experience in SQL Server and MySQL to support the customized, state-of-the-art autonomous coding engines, PULSE (https://corrohealth.com/pulse/ Medical Coding Automation) and Medical Savant. Both give health care providers fast/accurate/hands-off coding of charts.

Job Description

We are looking for a Senior DBA Developer to work on an industry-leading medical coding applications. The ACS team is looking for SQL Server database professionals to support an application that is used 24 hours a day by a global team of medical coders. You will have a flexible mind and work closely with the product owners and several teams to enhance the existing database systems, while keeping an eye on the future and always looking to go beyond the status quo.

You don't have to demonstrate mastery of every database technology we currently use (e.g., MSSQL 2012-2019, Azure SQL, SSIS, SSRS, Tools like SSDT, AzureStorage operations, AZCopy, SQL Profiler, Extended Events, Perfmon, New Relic, PowerShell). However, strong fundamentals and the ability to learn quickly is necessary. Most importantly, we seek talented, flexible, efficient, solution-oriented DBAs.

Job Responsibilities:

In this role you will work on:

  • SQL Development & Optimization: Develop efficient, scalable stored procedures, functions, views, and other database objects in T-SQL and MySQL dialects.
  • Database Performance & Scalability: Design, implement, and optimize database architecture to support a 24/7 high-volume production environment across SQL Server and MySQL platforms.
  • Cloud & DevOps Integration: Automate database deployments, CI/CD pipelines, and database provisioning for both SQL Server and MySQL in Azure DevOps and AWS.
  • Backup, High Availability, and Disaster Recovery: Manage SQL AlwaysOn Availability Groups, MySQL replication and clustering solutions, Log Shipping, replication, and other DR strategies.
  • Security & Compliance: Ensure data integrity and security by implementing access control, auditing, and encryption policies.
  • Troubleshooting & Incident Management: Monitor database health using SQL Profiler, Extended Events, New Relic, and proactively resolve issues.
  • On-Call: You will be required to be on-call 24/7 for 1 week every 3-weeks
  • Culture Participant: All meetings are on-video in 2025 and moving forward.

Qualifications:

Do you have what it takes?

  • Strong expertise in query optimization, indexing strategies, partitioning, and execution plan analysis in SQL Server and MySQL and Postgres.
  • Experience in database refactoring and schema evolution in an Agile environment for both SQL Server and MySQL.
  • Proficiency in PowerShell, Python, or other scripting languages for task automation.
  • Experience working in cloud-based and hybrid database environments.
  • Strong understanding of database observability, logging, and telemetry.
  • Strong understanding of RDBMS best-practices
  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent SQL skills across all DDL and DML operations
  • Ability and desire to learn and work with new languages and technologies as needed
  • Ability to learn legacy applications quickly and independently

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

EXPERIENCE: Minimum 8-10 years of related experience

Extensive experience required in these areas:

  • SQL Server Enterprise
  • MySQL Server
  • Postgres SQL
  • SQL Backup/Restore
  • SQL Server Security
  • MySQL Rose-Based Access Control
  • SQL Agent Jobs and Alerts
  • Experience with Kubernetes and containerized database deployments (e.g., SQL Server on Docker).
  • Experience with database versioning tools (Flyway, Liquibase) for schema management.
  • SSIS Development/Deployment
  • SSRS Deployment/Support
  • Power BI Deployment/Support
  • Familiarity with AI-driven database monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, Redgate SQL Monitor, or SolarWinds.

Experience in these areas:

  • Experience managing SQL Server and MySQL databases in production environments, including replication, clustering, backup strategies, and performance tuning.
  • Postgres SQL
  • AWS RDS
  • Azure SQL Database
  • Azure DevOps
  • MySQL Database Administration (e.g., Percona, InnoDB tuning, replication setup)
  • RedGate SQL Toolbelt
  • NoSQL Database administration, i.e. MongoDB, RavenDB, Elasticsearch, etc.
  • SQL Log Shipping
  • AlwaysOn Availability Groups
  • Installation and Migration of SQL Instances
  • Microsoft Certifications in SQL Server services / Database
  • Experience with Azure cloud services
  • Experience in exchange, integration, sharing, and retrieval of electronic data; preferably health related data using HL7 standards.
  • Source Control for databases, i.e. Git, SVN, TFS, etc

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
