About Whisker Labs

We’re on a mission to save lives and property, leading the next wave in smart home technology and fire prevention with Ting. This intelligent sensor and concierge service monitors a home’s electrical network to detect electrical hazards that often lead to the most devastating and catastrophic fires. While on the job preventing fires inside a home, Ting also helps monitor the electrical grid, contributing to increased community fire safety and reduced environmental impact that comes with fire reduction. We’re steadfastly addressing the long-underserved realm of electrical fire prevention with leading-edge technology and embarking on the next stage of our growth. About the Role

We're looking for a Senior Director, Brand & Product Marketing to own how Ting looks, sounds, and feels across every touchpoint. You'll lead brand strategy, product marketing, web and mobile app experience, creative direction, content, and communications for both Ting and Whisker Labs.

In this role, you'll set the direction for how we position Ting in the market, lead product launches and go-to-market efforts, and make sure creative and content execution meets a high bar. You'll manage a team spanning content, creative, and agency partnerships, and serve as the guardian of brand consistency across all channels.

You're a brand builder who understands performance. A thinker who can roll up your sleeves. A leader who helps teams and agencies do their best work. You move fast, test ideas, and iterate. Progress beats perfection. This role needs both vision and follow-through: setting the direction and making sure it comes to life.

You'll report to the VP of Marketing and partner closely with Growth, Retention, Marketing Operations, Partner Marketing, Product, and Sales. You lead with transparency, share context openly, and believe marketing wins as one team. If you thrive in fast-moving environments, bring strong creative judgment, and can balance long-term brand building with near-term business needs, this role is for you.

What You'll Do

Brand Strategy & Positioning

  • Own and evolve Ting's brand strategy, positioning, and messaging.
  • Define and protect our brand identity, voice, and visual standards across all touchpoints.
  • Lead competitive positioning and differentiation in InsurTech and connected home.
  • Partner with Growth and Partner Marketing to keep brand consistent while enabling channel-specific execution
  • Lead development of strategic decks and materials for executive, investor, and partner audiences.

Product Marketing

  • Partner with Product to turn the roadmap into compelling customer-facing narratives.
  • Own product positioning, value propositions, and go-to-market strategy for Ting.
  • Lead product marketing launches, feature announcements, and supporting campaigns.
  • Develop and maintain competitive intelligence and market insights.

Web, Mobile App & Digital Experience

  • Own the Ting website and partner with Product on the mobile app experience, including messaging, structure, and conversion.
  • Partner with Growth and Marketing Ops to make sure landing pages support acquisition goals.
  • Drive continuous improvement through testing and iteration.
  • Own the mobile app product experience in partnership with Product, ensuring brand consistency and user engagement.

Creative Direction

  • Lead creative strategy and oversee execution across brand, performance, and partner channels.
  • Manage Brand & Creative resources and the designer team.
  • Establish creative standards, templates, and workflows that enable speed without sacrificing quality.
  • Review and approve creative work with attention to detail. Provide clear direction and feedback that protects the brand.

Content & Communications

  • Own content strategy across owned channels: blog, social, email, and educational content.
  • Manage the Content Manager and make sure content supports brand, SEO, and demand generation goals.
  • Manage our PR agency relationship and oversee earned media strategy.
  • Build Ting's profile through press coverage, awards, and thought leadership.

Team & Agency Leadership

  • Lead and develop a team including Content Manager, Brand & Creative, and Designers. Share context openly and foster accountability.
  • Manage agency partnerships with clear briefs, accountability, and performance standards.
  • Build a high-performing brand and product marketing function that scales with the business.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in brand marketing, product marketing, or integrated marketing leadership.
  • A track record of building and evolving brand strategy for consumer or B2B2C products.
  • Experience leading product marketing, including positioning, launches, and competitive strategy.
  • Strong creative judgment with experience directing agencies and internal creative teams.
  • Experience owning website and mobile app strategy and optimizing digital experiences.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. You can craft a compelling narrative.
  • Experience managing PR agencies and earned media strategy.
  • A history of leading and developing high-performing teams.
  • Comfort working in fast-paced environments where things aren't always perfectly defined.
  • Experience using technology and tools to drive efficiency across creative, content, and brand workflows.
  • Experience in IoT, InsurTech, connected devices, or home services is a plus.

What Success Looks Like

  • Ting has a clear, differentiated brand position that resonates with consumers and partners.
  • Product launches are well-coordinated with compelling positioning and strong market reception.
  • The website and mobile app clearly communicate Ting's value and drive engagement and conversion.
  • Creative output is high-quality, on-brand, and delivered efficiently.
  • Content strategy drives organic traffic, engagement, and thought leadership.
  • Ting earns meaningful press coverage and builds category authority.
  • Brand, Growth, and Partner teams operate as one team with a shared narrative and consistent execution.
  • Your team is engaged, developing, and delivering excellent work.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
