This mechanical design role is crucial to developing our next generation of aircraft, with opportunities to grow in GE Aerospace’s technical program leadership or mechanical domain expert career paths. Roles and Responsibilities

  • Execute the mechanical design of Low-Pressure Turbine components (rotors, airfoils, or structures) for GE Aerospace’s RISE program, specifically in the context of Open Fan turbine technology maturation and ground/flight engine demonstration efforts.
  • Integrate components into larger system designs, collaborating with global and diverse teams from multiple disciplines (e.g. thermal, aero, and systems design).
  • Define preliminary sizing of turbine components and systems. Perform architecture feasibility and design exploration studies to define turbine configurations.
  • Communicate design risks to stakeholders to facilitate collective decision-making.
  • Create innovative solutions to meet broad design objectives for assigned hardware and overall module.
  • Lead and complete design reviews, drawing releases, quality requirements, and assembly analyses.
  • Suggest areas for technology advancements and recommend approaches or programs to achieve them.

Required Qualifications

  • Engineering degree with significant experience in mechanical design of gas turbine components.
  • Proven track record in delivering complex programs and ability to work in cross-functional global teams in multicultural environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to advance technology and generate innovative solutions.
  • Fluency in English.

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience in the gas turbine or aviation industry, specifically in mechanical design for turbine components such as rotors, airfoils, and structures.
  • Proficiency in Finite Element Analysis, preferably using Ansys.
  • Skills in 2D/3D modeling of mechanical components, preferably in NX/Teamcenter.
  • Experience in life assessments (LCF, HCF, crack propagation, creep).
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes and tools.
  • Experience in tolerance stack-ups, releasing drawings, and creating Bills of Material (BoMs).
