Role Description

At Dropbox, we believe in simplifying the way people work together. We provide a range of innovative cloud and AI-based solutions to empower individuals and businesses to collaborate, scale, and grow.

As a Senior Engineering Manager within the Commerce organization, you will lead one of Dropbox’s most business-critical platforms: our internal sales infrastructure. This team owns our Salesforce CRM, CPQ, Billing, and Reseller Portal systems powering the entire managed sales motion from lead creation to deal close to provisioning and revenue recognition.

Impact Areas: You will play a crucial role in areas such as sales process modernization, provisioning architecture, reseller platform development, and operational resilience. You’ll work at the intersection of engineering, sales, finance, and customer support driving change that directly impacts Dropbox’s top-line ARR and enterprise growth strategy.

What You Will Gain: In this role, you’ll gain deep exposure to Dropbox’s GTM stack, partner with senior business leaders across Sales, Finance, and Legal, and influence the platform strategy behind our $300M+ B2B sales motion. You’ll have the opportunity to evolve a hybrid team of full time and contract engineers into a product-driven, resilient engineering organization while scaling both the systems and the people behind them.

Our Engineering Career Framework is viewable by anyone outside the company and describes what’s expected for our engineers at each of our career levels. Check out our blog post on this topic and more here.

Responsibilities
  • Own and evolve technical architecture supporting the entire managed sales funnel from lead routing and quoting to provisioning, billing, and revenue operations
  • Partner closely with Enterprise Sales, Commercial Strategy & Ops, Finance, and Legal to deliver scalable solutions that enable global growth and reduce operational friction
  • Drive results by identifying impactful opportunities and ensuring long-term growth and customer impact
  • Inspire your team with a clear direction, fostering an environment where innovation flourishes and bold ideas are encouraged
  • Foster talent development by supporting personal growth, career advancement, and diverse hiring practices
  • Cultivate a collaborative and inclusive culture, championing team members and upholding our company values
  • Ensure software and architecture excellence through quality feedback, risk mitigation, and alignment with technical strategy and business goals

Many teams at Dropbox run Services with on-call rotations, which entails being available for calls during both core and non-core business hours. If a team has an on-call rotation, all engineers on the team are expected to participate in the rotation as part of their employment. Applicants are encouraged to ask for more details of the rotations to which the applicant is applying.

Requirements
  • BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field involving coding (e.g., physics or mathematics) or equivalent technical experience
  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 5+ years in direct management roles.
  • Experience managing other Engineering Managers
  • Ability to lead hybrid teams with a mix of full time and contract engineers across multiple geographies
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with or adjacent to CRM, CPQ, Billing, or workflow automation platforms
  • Experience supporting Sales, Revenue, or Finance systems at a SaaS company or enterprise software environment
  • Background in subscriptions, billing, or payments domains, particularly in systems that handle monetization at scale
  • Familiarity with Salesforce ecosystem (CRM, CPQ, Billing)

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
