The Opportunity

About DAT Outgo

We're a fast-growing team tackling a massive opportunity: the $800B US freight market. This industry comprises 1.6 million carriers, with 95% being small businesses operating 10 or fewer trucks. These hard-working business owners often face tight margins while being forced to rely on predatory financial products laden with exorbitant rates, hidden fees, and restrictive contracts.

At DAT Outgo, we're changing that. We're building an intelligent fintech platform from the ground up that truly understands the unique needs of trucking businesses. Our platform operates with radical transparency and fairness, optimizing cash flow to help truckers save more and grow their businesses.

Join our dynamic team at DAT in our mission to level the playing field and empower America's truckers with the financial tools they deserve.

About Us

For our customers, we craft intuitive, trustworthy applications that set a new standard for financial services.

Our modern tech stack is built on Go (golang) powered by AWS infrastructure. We leverage cutting-edge tools including Temporal, Postgres, LLMs  and Grafana to deliver exceptional results.

Our seasoned engineering team brings deep experience from both successful startups and leading enterprises.

Candidate profile

We're looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to lead our Fintech Platform team. This team is responsible for our ledger that supports multiple distinct fintech products, integrating with banking partners and lenders, and scaling our fintech platform to meet growing demand.

You are someone who…

  • Demonstrates pride, ownership, and accountability for your team's outcomes, and builds that same sense of ownership in the engineers you lead
  • Shares opinions openly on what's working and what's not across the product, tech stack, and team processes, and creates the safety for your team to do the same
  • Builds feedback loops into how the team works, coaching engineers to seek input early and often rather than waiting until the end
  • Guides the team through speed vs quality tradeoffs, making the reasoning explicit so the right call is clear even under pressure
  • Actively fosters a culture where every person can do their best work, and grows people toward the next step in their careers

The Skills and Experience You’ll Bring

  • 10+ years of combined experience in Software Engineering, including at least 3 years as a technical people manager
  • Experience working with payments systems
  • Experience building and operating complex systems of record that cannot tolerate missing data
  • Experience with cloud platforms and data systems (e.g. AWS, S3, Aurora Postgres)
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent experience

We'd be Extra Excited if You Have

  • Experience with double-entry accounting
  • Experience with asset-based lending
  • Experience with marketplaces
  • Experience with banking integrations
