As a Senior HR Business Partner (HRBP) supporting the Microsoft AI (MAI) organization, one of Microsoft's fastest-growing businesses, you will execute people strategies that enable organizational growth, talent excellence, and business impact. As a trusted advisor to senior leaders, you will serve as the strategic integrator across HR Business Partners, Recruiting, and Centers of Excellence to deliver coordinated people solutions that accelerate business outcomes. 

Operating within MAI's agile, mission-driven environment, where cross-functional squads work in rapid planning cycles, you will help leaders navigate growth, organizational change, and evolving business priorities. This role requires strategic thinking, business acumen, and operational excellence to deliver outcomes at speed while leading a team and supporting a rapidly evolving organization.

Responsibilities

Strategic Business Partnership 

  • Support leaders through organizational growth, change, and transformation by providing strategic guidance, change management expertise, and people solutions that enable business agility and execution. 

  • Influence and hold leaders accountable for creating high-performing teams while fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement. 

Organizational Effectiveness 

  • Assess organizational health, team effectiveness, leadership capability, and operating rhythms, identifying opportunities to improve business performance and organizational outcomes. 

  • Partner with leaders to design organizational structures, workforce strategies, and operating models that enable business growth, organizational agility, and execution of evolving priorities. 

  • Anticipate organizational risks and proactively recommend solutions that strengthen execution, employee experience, and long-term business success. 

Talent  

  • Lead strategic talent planning efforts that align workforce needs, hiring plans, succession strategies, and talent investments with business objectives. 

  • Partner with business leaders, Talent Management, and Recruiting to identify critical talent needs, close capability gaps, and build high-performing talent pipelines. 

  • Leverage data and workforce insights to identify talent risks, improve retention, and inform talent decisions that strengthen organizational performance. 

HR Community Leadership 

  • Influence and collaborate with HR Centers of Excellence (COEs) to shape and adapt company programs, policies, and initiatives to meet the evolving needs of the MAI organization while maintaining alignment with Microsoft priorities.   

  • Partner closely with Recruiting and HR Business Partners to support hiring, onboarding, internal mobility, and workforce growth strategies that enable business scale and talent success.

Qualifications

Required/minimum qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field AND 4+ years experience in human resources or related processes (e.g., hiring, training, performance management)
    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field AND 7+ years experience in human resources or related processes (e.g., hiring, performance management)
    • OR equivalent experience.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications 

  • Master's Degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field AND 8+ years experience in human resources or related processes (e.g., hiring, training, performance management)

    • OR Bachelor's Degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field AND 12+ years experience in human resources or related processes (e.g., hiring, performance management)

    • OR equivalent experience. 

  • Experience influencing senior executives and leading through ambiguity in fast-paced, continually evolving environments.  

  • Experience partnering with technical, product, engineering, or AI-focused organizations. 

  • Experience coaching leaders and leadership teams on talent, performance, team effectiveness, and organizational health.

 
 

HR Business Partnership IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $106,400 - $203,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $137,600 - $222,600 per year.
