Our team uses large datasets to analyze and measure the performance and reliability of our platform. We are networking data scientists: we combine our knowledge of data analysis, networking and distributed systems to define key performance indicators for our platform, determine how different factors impact them, and devise opportunities for improvement.

Partner with the best

In this role, you'll apply statistical data analysis and an understanding of networking protocols to diagnose and solve some of the Internet's most difficult content delivery challenges. You'll work with cross-functional teams to understand and measure the performance and reliability of our platform and products to influence their evolution.

As a Senior II Site Reliability Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading SRE teams by providing technical mentorship, feedback and guidelines, and by organizing project-specific work.
  • Driving partnership with Engineering, Operations and Product teams to help guide adoption of new features and processes.
  • Applying analytical skills and statistical insights to identify performance bottlenecks and reliability challenges, and propose solutions.
  • Defining, implementing, mining data feeds drawn from 3rd party and internal sources to produce insights that influence company decision-making.
  • Influencing company decision-making at the highest levels to identify areas for new technology investments.
  • Building software tools and systems to automate analytical tasks and workflows to increase efficiency and reliability.

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

  • 8+ years of experience and a Bachelor's diploma in Computer Science or its equivalent
  • Have an analytical background with experience in statistical data analysis
  • Demonstrate experience with coding in at least one following languages (python, perl, SQL, Java, C, R)
  • Have a proven ability to provide insightful and well-received technical feedback.
  • Have excellent communication and organizational skills and be able to articulate technical information in an easy-to-understand manner.
  • Possess experience with Internet protocols (DNS/HTTP/TLS/TCP).

Compensation

Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For US based candidates only - the base salary for this position ranges from $146,400 - $263,600/year; a candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. Compensation for candidates outside the US will vary. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP). Akamai provides industry-leading benefits including healthcare, 401K savings plan, company holidays, vacation (in the form of PTO), sick time, family friendly benefits including parental leave and an employee assistance program including a focus on mental and financial wellness; Eligibility requirements apply.
