Simplexity Product Development is a product design and engineering firm that partners with leading companies to bring complex hardware and software systems to life. Our teams work on challenging, real-world problems across robotics, automation, and advanced electromechanical systems. We are seeking a Senior Industrial Automation Electrical Engineer to join our engineering team and contribute to the design, development, and deployment of large-scale robotic automation solutions in collaboration with cross-functional partners.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a Senior Industrial Automation Electrical Engineer to support the design, development, and deployment of large-scale robotic automation systems. This role focuses on delivering robust, safe, and scalable electrical designs for complex robotic workcells operating in high-throughput environments. You will work closely with cross-functional engineering teams and play a key role throughout the full product lifecycle—from concept and design through field deployment and support.
You would be responsible for electrical system architecture, integration, and troubleshooting for large fulfillment workcell robots. This position is critical to ensuring system reliability, performance, and compliance in operational settings.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design electrical connections inside industrial electrical AC/DC and DC/DC cabinets (voltages in the 100 to 600 VAC and 5 to 60 VDC ranges)
  • Design and develop electrical systems for large fulfillment workcell robots, including power distribution, motor control, and sensor integration
  • Troubleshoot complex electrical issues in deployed robotic systems to minimize downtime and optimize performance
  • Create detailed electrical control panel schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation following industry best practices
  • Collaborate with mechanical, software, and controls engineers to integrate electrical systems into complete robotic solutions
  • Conduct design reviews, failure analysis, and root cause investigations for electrical system issues
  • Define electrical specifications and requirements for new robotic workcell designs
  • Support manufacturing, installation, and commissioning of robotic systems at fulfillment centers

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 8+ years of experience in electrical engineering, preferably in robotics or automation
  • Strong knowledge of power electronics, motor drives, and control systems
  • Experience with electrical design tools (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN)
  • Proficiency in reading and creating electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Understanding of safety standards and regulations (e.g., IEC 61508, NFPA 79, UL 508A)

PLUSES TO HAVE
  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Experience with large-scale industrial automation or material handling systems
  • Knowledge of PLCs, industrial communication protocols (EtherCAT, Profinet, etc.)
  • Experience with low and high voltage systems in robotic applications
  • Familiarity with EMC/EMI design considerations
  • Experience supporting field deployments and troubleshooting in operational facilities

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
