We're building a new healthcare clearinghouse

Stedi is the only headless clearinghouse and RCM engine. Headless means every part of our product is accessible via API. Developers and AI agents build their own interface on top of it. By offering modern, AI-ready APIs alongside traditional real-time and batch EDI processes, we enable both healthcare technology businesses and established players to exchange mission-critical transactions. Our clearinghouse product and customer-first approach have set us apart. Stedi was ranked by Ramp as one of the fastest-growing SaaS vendors.

Stedi has lightning in a bottle: engineers and designers shipping products week in and week out; a lean business team supporting the company's infrastructure; a passion for automation and eliminating toil; and $142 million in funding from top investors like Stripe, Addition, USV, Bloomberg Beta, First Round Capital, and more.

To see what we ship, watch the 2026 Stedi Keynote. To learn more about how we work, watch our founder Zack's interview with First Round Capital.

What we’re looking for

Stedi is hiring a Senior Legal Counsel to sit at the center of how we grow. Every new customer, payer connection, and partnership runs through a contract, and you’ll own the bulk of that deal flow. Your counterparties will range from fast-moving healthtech startups to established industry players and national payers. Healthtech experience is a plus, but not required – we value strong legal judgment, curiosity, and the ability to learn a new industry quickly.

We ship new products constantly, and the deals that follow bring new structures, new pricing models, and meaningful HIPAA and data-use considerations. You’ll be close to all of it. As the business continues to grow, so will the role, and we expect you to take on new areas as needs arise and as your interests take you.

You’ll join a small, effective Legal team with a broad mandate. We keep up with a fast-growing, highly regulated business by investing in good systems and tools (AI among them), so our time goes to the work that takes a lawyer’s judgment. That means every person on the team has outsized ownership and impact, and you’ll help improve the tools as well as use them. If you have the talent and drive to help build a world-class legal function alongside experienced mentors at a rapidly scaling tech company, we want to talk.

What you’ll do
  • Own customer contracting across the full lifecycle, from first redline through signature, amendments, assignments, and renewals.

  • Negotiate the complex commercial terms and structures that come with a fast-growing, highly regulated business.

  • Drive payer trading partner agreements and key vendor agreements to close quickly and within our risk profile while maintaining our rigorous compliance standards.

  • Use AI and other technology to build and maintain the contracting engine, identifying and automating the repeatable, rules-based parts of contracting and reserving lawyer time for judgment.

  • Track patterns across negotiations and turn them into sharper standard positions, better templates, and fewer escalations.

  • Be the go-to resource for Sales and Account Management. Field their day-to-day questions quickly, coach the team on our positions, and know when a deal needs more than a playbook.

  • Take on new areas based on interest and business need as Stedi and the Legal team grow.

Who you are
  • You’re bar-admitted, have several years of commercial contracting, transactional, or regulatory counseling experience, and are ready to take on a role with broad ownership.

  • You’ve handled complex legal matters end to end, whether in BigLaw, at a high-growth company, or both.

  • You’ve used AI tools, CLM platforms, or other technology to make legal work faster and better, and you want to push that further.

  • You can explain complex issues in plain language, write clearly, and communicate confidently with executives, lawyers, regulators, procurement staff, engineers, and everyone in between.

  • You’re comfortable with high-volume work, ambiguity, and shifting priorities, and you maintain high quality through effective systems and habits.

  • You have the business acumen to blend legal rigor with strategic persuasion, knowing when to apply pressure and when to collaborate.

  • You’re a generalist at heart. When something unfamiliar lands on your desk, you’d rather figure it out than refer it out.

  • You move fast, operate with precision, and follow through until the job is done. You thrive in an environment where clarity, accountability, and urgency matter.

We’ve been made aware of individuals impersonating the Stedi recruiting team. Please note:

  • All official communication about roles at Stedi will only come from an @stedi.com email address, or from our official identification verification partner, Persona, @frompersona.com.

We appreciate your attention to this and your interest in joining Stedi.

At Stedi, we're looking for people who are deeply curious and aligned to our ways of working. You're encouraged to apply even if your experience doesn't perfectly match the job description.
