Job Summary & Responsibilities

The Senior Manager - Payroll is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end payroll operations globally, ensuring accurate and timely payments for employees. This position oversees the calculation of wages, taxes, and deductions to ensure compliance with diverse international payroll, and wage and hour laws.  The role also prepares all requested Payroll reporting for internal and external use.

  • Establish and maintain controls, policies and procedures for global functions of the payroll department.
  • Oversee the full payroll cycle globally for both union and nonunion payrolls across multiple time zones and countries.
  • Manage and guarantee weekly disbursement of global payroll, including Union and Non-Union payroll 
  • Be primary U.S. contact with ADP/Dayforce to address changes and/or corrections needed.
  • Lead the implementation of global payroll systems to achieve efficiency, compliance and scalability.
  • Process taxes consistent with federal and state regulations. 
  • Ensure all employees are being paid in accordance with federal/state/local wage and hour laws.
  • Maintains accurate local payroll tax rates in payroll database
  • Manage onsite and remote payroll teams, including global Shared Services payroll staff
  • Work closely with other departments such as HR Operations, Benefits and Finance/Accounting to prepare global reporting to align with shared goals.
  • Critically review and analyze current payroll and tax procedures to recommend and implement changes leading to best-practice operations
  • Communicate and coordinate actively with Management to ensure that cross-departmental impacts are identified (Human Resources, Benefits, Accounting)
  • Maintains corporate policies and procedures related to payroll and timekeeping activities.
  • Ensure systems are set-up and updated to reflect our current employee base, including wages, benefits, sick and vacation time in line with contracts (union and non-union)
  • Responsible for preparation of relevant management reports, including weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end reports (gross payroll, hours worked, vacation accrual, tax deductions, benefit deductions, etc.)
  • Assist in all internal company and benefit plan audits
  • Prepare Audit schedules for annual Workman’s Comp audit
  • Review and approve all non-benefit payroll-related payments including Union Dues, PAC, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required
  • CPP preferred but not required.
  • 10 years’ experience managing multi-state payroll department, including staff.
  • Experience with Union and Non Union Payroll management
  • Working knowledge of payroll best practices.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations.
  • Strong PC skills including proficiency in Excel.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
  • Working knowledge of ADP –Vantage and Dayforce (preferred)
  • Strong work ethic and team player.
  • Working Knowledge of Accounting & Reconciliations
  • High degree of professionalism.
  • Ability to deal with sensitive and confidential materials
  • Strong interpersonal (verbal and written) communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate with various levels of management & employees.
  • Decision-making, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills.
  • Must be able to work well under weekly and monthly deadlines, quarter end and year end activities related to payroll, benefits and Accounting.

Work Environment:

  • Required job duties are normally performed in a climate-controlled office environment.
  • Exposure to computer screens.
  • May be required to travel domestically and internationally 15% of your time.

Pay Range

$140,000 - 180,000 per year

Compensation & BenefitsEligible employees (and their families) may qualify for medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as having basic life and accidental death insurance, paid disability insurance, including paid parental leave if eligible, and an Employee Assistance Program. Employees will receive paid sick and vacation time, and company holidays if eligible. The company also offers paid bereavement leave, and paid jury duty. Eligible employees can enroll in our company's 401k plan, as well as a retirement plan. Employees will be eligible for discretionary and/or metric-based bonuses dependent on their position.
