Ready to be a Titan?

We are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to lead our Core Platform Infrastructure team. This team owns the distributed systems foundations that power ServiceTitan’s engineering ecosystem, including messaging infrastructure, asynchronous processing frameworks, and the internal developer platform used by hundreds of engineers across the company.

This is one of the most critical technical leadership roles in the organization. The platform you build and evolve will define how software is developed, deployed, and operated across ServiceTitan. We are looking for a hands-on, technically strong leader who can drive architectural direction, scale critical infrastructure, and build the platform capabilities that enable the entire engineering organization to move faster with confidence.

What You'll Do

Own the Core Platform: Lead the engineering team responsible for the foundational infrastructure used across the company, including messaging systems, event-driven architectures, asynchronous job processing frameworks, and internal developer tooling.

Drive platform architecture: Lead architecture decisions for critical platform systems that support hundreds of services and engineers. Establish scalable patterns for messaging, async workflows, service communication, and reliability.

Scale distributed systems: Design and evolve high-scale, high-reliability distributed systems that power ServiceTitan’s production workloads. Ensure strong performance, fault isolation, and operational resilience.

Build the internal developer platform: Create frameworks, tooling, and paved roads that dramatically improve developer productivity, service creation, testing, and deployment across the engineering organization.

Advance platformization: Drive the evolution toward a unified internal platform that standardizes service creation, messaging patterns, deployment workflows, observability, and reliability practices across teams.

Improve reliability and operational excellence: Define platform reliability standards including SLOs, monitoring, performance tuning, and failure recovery strategies for foundational services used across the company.

Embed AI into the engineering platform: Apply AI-assisted approaches across the engineering lifecycle including automated testing, code analysis, operational monitoring, and developer workflow acceleration.

Lead and grow the team: Hire, mentor, and develop strong engineers while building a healthy, high-performing engineering organization. Balance technical leadership with organizational development as the team scales.

Partner across engineering: Work closely with principal engineers, architects, and product leaders to align platform capabilities with the needs of the broader engineering organization.

What You'll Bring

  • Deep hands-on experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems

  • Strong background in messaging systems, event-driven architectures, and asynchronous processing frameworks

  • Proven experience building internal platforms, developer tooling, or infrastructure used by large engineering organizations

  • Strong architectural judgment with the ability to lead complex technical design discussions and drive long-term platform direction

  • Experience improving engineering productivity through platform capabilities, frameworks, and automation

  • Familiarity with performance engineering, reliability practices, and operating high-scale production infrastructure

  • Experience applying AI tooling to engineering workflows such as testing, code quality, operational insights, or developer productivity

  • Strong leadership and communication skills, able to work deeply with engineers while effectively partnering with senior leadership

  • A track record of building and growing strong engineering teams while delivering transformative platform capabilities

This role is ideal for a technically strong leader who wants to shape the platform foundations of a rapidly growing engineering organization and build the systems that power how software is created and operated at scale.

What you need to know about the Seattle Tech Scene

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
