About The Role

We are seeking a Senior Portfolio Accountant, Reporting & Compliance to join our growing team at Solar Landscape. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys taking full ownership of their work, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and wants to contribute to a mission-driven renewable energy company.

You will work across three connected areas:

  • Portfolio accounting and reporting. Deliver reporting that leadership, investors, and lenders rely on.
  • Financing and capital contribution transactions. Bring newly closed projects and financing transactions onto the books, support debt and tax equity fundings, and act as a reliable accounting contact for lenders and investors.
  • Compliance through the operating life. Keep each financing vehicle compliant long after its projects reach commercial operation: covenant and DSCR testing, reserves, distributions and waterfalls, capital accounts, and recurring lender and investor reporting.

The ideal candidate brings strong US GAAP fundamentals, has worked with partnership and financing structures, exercises independent judgment, and is comfortable coordinating across finance, legal, subscriber management, asset management, and outside parties in a fast-paced, mission-driven company.

The Senior Portfolio Accountant will play a hands-on role across key accounting functions, including financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, analytics, audit preparation, and compliance with financial and regulatory requirements. This position offers meaningful responsibility and the opportunity to make a real impact as we continue to scale our business.

Responsibilities

    Portfolio accounting and reporting

  • Lead budget vs. actual and variance analysis, identify what drove the results, and turn findings into recommendations management can act on.
  • Prepare and distribute management reporting packages for internal leadership, investors, lenders, and other external parties.
  • Support budgets and forecasts for the portfolios under management.
  • Financing and capital contribution transactions

  • Own the accounting side of onboarding newly closed projects and financing transactions,
  • Support debt and tax equity fundings from draw request through close, including funding entries, sources and uses, and resolution of accounting-related funding conditions.
  • Assist with the financial close of new financing transactions in coordination with the investments, legal, and asset management teams.
  • Compliance through the operating life

  • Own the recurring compliance calendar for each financing vehicle: covenant and DSCR testing, reserve requirements, distributions, and lender and tax equity reporting.
  • Calculate debt service, partner and investor distributions, and cash waterfalls in line with credit agreements and partnership and operating agreements.
  • Maintain and reconcile partner and member capital accounts, including contributions, distributions, and allocations of income and loss.
  • Prepare work papers, schedules, and support for external auditors, and meet quarterly and annual reporting obligations to outside parties.
  • Administer obligations under project agreements and ensure compliance with regulatory and government requirements.
  • Team and process

  • Identify and implement process improvements so close, fundings, and compliance can scale with a fast-growing portfolio.
  • Review the work of and help develop junior accountants and analysts, and document how the team executes.
  • Lead special projects and cross-functional initiatives as the business grows.

Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or a related field.
    • Master’s degree in finance, business, or a related field, a plus.
    • A minimum of 5 years of experience across portfolio management, investment banking, or project finance.
    • Working knowledge of debt agreements, LLC and partnership agreements, and other transaction documents, and how they drive distributions, waterfalls, and capital account allocations.
    • Experience supporting debt or tax equity fundings, onboarding new projects or deals, and recording funding transactions.
    • Strong Excel and modeling skills, including schedules for sources and uses, liquidity, waterfalls, and covenant compliance.
    • FP&A experience (budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis) and the ability to explain results to senior management.
    • Hands-on experience with the operating phase of infrastructure, real estate, or solar assets, including covenant and DSCR testing, distributions, and lender reporting, is a plus.
    • Experience reviewing the work of or mentoring junior team members.
    • Ability to run complex processes with minimal oversight and coordinate across internal teams, auditors, lenders, and other third parties.
    • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
    • Experience in renewable energy, particularly solar project or fund accounting, is strongly preferred.

Home to tech titans like Microsoft and Amazon, Seattle punches far above its weight in innovation. But its surrounding mountains, sprinkled with world-famous hiking trails and climbing routes, make the city a destination for outdoorsy types as well. Established as a logging town before shifting to shipbuilding and logistics, the Emerald City is now known for its contributions to aerospace, software, biotech and cloud computing. And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
