Netflix is one of the world's leading entertainment services, with 283 million paid memberships in over 190 countries enjoying TV series, films and games across a wide variety of genres and languages. Members can play, pause and resume watching as much as they want, anytime, anywhere, and can change their plans at any time.

We recently launched a new ad-supported tier to offer our members more choice in how they consume their content. Our new tier allows us to attract new members at a lower price point, while also creating a compelling path for advertisers to reach audiences that are deeply immersed.

To help us deliver this compelling experience, we’re looking for a highly ambitious, visionary, and experienced Senior Product Designer who will help enable the foundational design components and patterns for our consumer and platform advertising experience, including common capabilities like user access and support systems. Additionally, you will partner closely with our central design systems team to build out and maintain a thoughtful, robust, and extensible advertising design system. Your work will be essential to delivering a delightful, engaging, and highly relevant Ads experience for our Netflix members.

***Flexible Remote Model: This will be a hybrid role. The business will require onsite engagement weekly with the freedom to set a flexible work-from-home schedule. Onsite/Remote depends on the business needs and priority of onsite business meetings, and working from home in low-engagement days/weeks. This role would be best for candidates located in California or in the Pacific time zone, as monthly in-person travel will be required to collaborate with stakeholders and partners in Los Angeles, CA and Los Gatos, CA. That said, we can always make exceptions in location for the right candidate.

About Our Team

Our Ads Experience Design team designs the experience, technology, workflows, and capabilities that power Netflix’s advertising business.  We also design the foundational capabilities and technology for the next-generation of Netflix experiences, like Live entertainment. Our team’s primary superpower is the ability to design creatively and collaboratively in highly complex environments – from core services that power Netflix’s streaming technology to industry-leading partnership platforms.

You’ll be one of the lead designers who crafts the design system and core capabilities that power Netflix’s advertising experience.  More specifically, you’ll be a critical part of one of the most talented and trailblazing advertising design teams in the world.

Why You’ll Love Our Team

  • We’re big on individual responsibility and smart on process.

  • Work with stunning, supportive designers on problems that matter.

  • Top of market compensation and benefits, flexible time off, and work-life-balance.

  • Flexibility to balance work-from-home and in-office work, so long as you’re able to be onsite for meaningful moments of collaboration.

  • Freedom and flexibility to craft your own design workflow, while harnessing Netflix’s world-class design system and tooling.

  • Meaningful financial support for further education and professional growth.

  • An inclusive environment to help you do your best work and feel genuinely supported.

What You Will Do

  • Lead the design and execution of the advertising design system and core capabilities that power Netflix's ads experience.

  • Partner with the central Netflix design system team to extend and contribute patterns and components.

  • Identify, research, and drive core capabilities that enable ads for our members, like access management, notifications, and support systems.

  • Craft design briefs that provide business, design, and engineering clarity for critical initiatives.

  • Collaborate with engineers, product managers, data scientists, tech writers, and business teams to develop and iterate upon new concepts and facilitate product execution.

What We’re Looking For

  • Domain familiarity with advertising technology and design system best practices - you’re comfortable with advertising nomenclature, operations, and Live streaming technology.

  • A passionate energy for great design and amplifying our team culture.

  • 8+ years as a Product Designer (or equivalent experience) in the B2B2C space, leading high-impact initiatives from concept to execution in technical business areas.

  • 4+ years as a Product Designer developing extensible React components and patterns leveraged across platform and consumer experiences.

  • A versatile portfolio that showcases deep interaction and problem solving skills, specifically case studies that demonstrate expertise and leadership solving complex business platforms through design systems.

  • Understanding of complex workflows designed to scale across diverse, global operations teams.

  • Excellent communication skills that excite stakeholders and articulate a vision.

  • Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail (e.g writing documentation to support your design decisions).

Even Better:

  • Ad tech domain expertise: you’ve developed expertise in delivering advertising technology to a global audience.

  • Experience working with complex internal systems, data platforms, and highly technical environments (like API platforms).

  • Experience leading design strategy for B2B2C advertising ecosystem (e.g. influencing product direction through the lens of experience design).

Compensation Range

Generally, our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $120,000 - $515,000

And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
