About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Hogan Senior Software Engineer with deep experience developing in Hogan IDS, CIS, Umbrella and RPM applications to join our engineering team. In this role, you will work to enhance and support the Bank’s Core Deposits systems and play a key part in continuing the modernization of our mainframe ecosystem. You’ll collaborate closely with senior technical leaders, contribute to new development and system enhancements, and help advance the continued modernization of our DevOps and automation capabilities on the mainframe.
This is an exceptional opportunity for a Hogan engineer who is passionate about mainframe operations but also excited to embrace modernization efforts—including integrating industry‑leading tools like IBM’s zDIH (z/OS Data Integration Hub).
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain high‑quality Hogan IDS / CIS / UMB / RPM applications and batch processes.
- Work extensively with HOGAN, JCL, JSCAN, EZTRIEVE, VSAM, TSO Utilities, CA7, FILEAID, XPEDITER, and ABEND-AID.
- Leverage our DevOps pipeline to build, test and deploy code.
- Troubleshoot complex production issues, ensuring reliability and performance of mission‑critical systems.
- Leverage and deploy API sets via zOS Connect and REST services.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on analysis, design, testing, and implementation of solutions.
- Leverage IBM’s new zDIH technology to improve data integration, analytics accessibility, and modernization initiatives.
- Receive mentoring from our most senior engineers—experts with decades of mainframe experience—and progressively mentor junior team members.
- Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and continuous improvement of engineering practices.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree and a minimum of 5 years’ systems analysis and/ or application development work experience or Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 3 years’ systems analysis and/ or application development work experience. In lieu of degree, a combined minimum of 7 years’ education and/or relevant work experience, including a minimum of 3 years’ systems analysis and/or application development work experience

- Strong understanding of batch processing, data flows, and performance tuning.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex system issues in large-scale environments.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on experience and demonstrated proficiency as a HOGAN software engineer in both development and applications support roles.
- Experience contributing to or setting up DevOps/CI/CD pipelines for mainframe workloads (e.g., Git, SonarQube, SonarLint, ADDI, Ansible).
- Familiarity with IBM’s zDIH or other mainframe modernization and integration technologies.
- Exposure to cloud integration, API enablement, and/or data virtualization initiatives.
- Background in financial services, insurance, or other high‑availability industries.
