As a Senior Software Engineer I, you will be a hands-on technical leader building and evolving Polaris across the full stack. You will design intuitive React and TypeScript interfaces and robust Django and Python APIs, owning features from architecture through deployment and production support. Working closely with Product, UX, QA, and engineers across squads, you will translate business problems into scalable solutions, integrate with Google and other third-party platforms, and improve delivery speed, quality, and reliability. You will help set technical direction, mentor engineers, and raise engineering standards across frontend and backend development.

You Will Be
- Acting as a hands-on technical leader and Subject Matter Expert (SME) across both React/TypeScript and Django/Python.
- Designing, building, and maintaining end-to-end features across React applications, Django APIs and services, and PostgreSQL data models.
- Partnering with Product and UX to turn complex business workflows into intuitive, accessible, and responsive user experiences.
- Designing secure, scalable RESTful APIs and integrating with Google and other third-party services.
- Architecting reusable frontend and backend patterns with clear boundaries and pragmatic tradeoffs.
- Owning automated testing across the stack with Pytest, Vitest, and Playwright to support reliable continuous integration and delivery.
- Monitoring, troubleshooting, and improving performance, reliability, and observability across web applications and APIs.
- Driving features from discovery and technical design through deployment, documentation, and production support.
- Carefully balancing custom and open-source software to best suit product and operational needs.
- Proactively identifying and resolving defects, technical debt, and architectural risks.
- Reviewing designs and code, mentoring engineers, and raising engineering standards across the team.
- Collaborating across squads and participating in agile planning and delivery.
You Must Have
- 7+ years of experience building production web applications, with strong hands-on expertise in both React/TypeScript and Python/Django.
- Proven ability to own complex full-stack features and systems end to end.
- Deep React expertise, including hooks, component architecture, accessibility, and state management such as Redux or Zustand.
- Deep Django expertise, including the ORM, migrations, authentication and authorization, and Django REST Framework or similar API tooling.
- Strong experience designing and operating RESTful APIs and third-party integrations, including validation, error handling, rate limits, and varied data formats.
- Strong PostgreSQL and relational data modeling skills, including query performance and transactional design.
- Mastery of modern frontend tooling such as Vite and NPM, plus GitHub Actions or comparable CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong automated testing practices across frontend, backend, and end-to-end layers using tools such as Vitest or Jest, Pytest, and Playwright.
- Strong understanding of application security, API security, and secure coding practices.
- Experience deploying and operating containerized applications in cloud environments; GCP and Kubernetes are a plus.
- Exceptional architecture, debugging, and problem-solving skills across the full stack.
- Demonstrated technical leadership, mentoring, and ability to influence cross-functional teams.
