Senior Software Engineer, Java | Ticketing

About the Role

As a Senior Software Engineer on the NinjaOne team, you will join a dedicated team building NinjaOne's ITSM capabilities, spanning our Ticketing and Billing products within the IT Operations suite. You'll design and implement scalable new solutions and product improvements that help IT teams and MSPs run their entire service operation, from managing tickets and automating workflows to turning that work into revenue through quoting, invoicing, and billing. On the Billing side, you'll build the systems MSPs rely on to monetize their services: generating accurate invoices from contracts and usage data, creating and managing quotes, and integrating with accounting platforms like QuickBooks and Xero so financial data flows seamlessly into the tools our customers already use.

This work demands precision, reliability, and a strong sense of ownership, when it comes to money, correctness isn't optional. A key part of what makes NinjaOne unique is the deep integration between these products and our endpoint management and RMM capabilities: technicians can take one-click remediation actions directly from a ticket, and the work they log flows straight through to billing. You'll help build and evolve that seamless, single-pane experience, from issue resolution to invoice.

Location - We are flexible on remote working from home, if you are located in the USA and reside in one of the following states - CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, *IL, KS, MA, MD, ME, NJ, NC, NY, OH, OR, TN, TX, VA, and WA. We have physical offices in Austin, TX and Tampa, FL, if you prefer a hybrid option.

We hire the best software engineers, but experience in our stack can’t hurt: NinjaOne is built on Java, Kotlin, C++, Golang and Postgres; supporting millions of user endpoints and running as a scalable cloud service in AWS.  Knowing large-scale datastore bottlenecks, asynchronous application design and client-server architecture will help you.

What You’ll be Doing

• Java and Kotlin Software Development– use your expertise to contribute to the development of large-scale software applications.  Make quality an invariant part of your work and help your fellow engineers continue to meet our quality-first standards.

• Committing Code and Shipping Products – you will be one of our most trusted engineers committing code.  Responsible for implementing design patterns and working on enterprise level software challenges, in a startup environment.  Impact product more hands on than at other companies, building software of scale that runs on millions and millions of endpoints

• Other duties as needed.

About You

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience.
• 10+ years experience in Java software development for product applications or equivalent. Solid expertise in Kotlin will make you a stand out candidate.
• 4+ years experience working with highly scalable software systems.
• Experience working on systems at scale and finding solutions to scale systems.
• Working knowledge of a breadth of OOP design principles.
• Expertise in scaling data structures and object-oriented design.
• Knowledge of API best practices and REST service development using frameworks like Jersey or Spring.
• Relational Database design and development experience.
• Experience creating both client and server-side development, for responsive messaging.  
• Caching systems expertise and experience with Redis will make you a stand-out.
• Expert knowledge of quality testing practices.

Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to location, market demands, experience, job-related knowledge, and skills. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage and PTO. For roles based in California, Colorado, Maryland, New Jersey, or Washington the base salary hiring range for this position is $140,000 to $200,000 per year.

For roles based in New York, the base salary hiring range for this position is $140,000 to $200,000 per year.
