The Mojang Web Team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer who is passionate about modern, delightful web experiences in service of the most popular game in the world: Minecraft! As a Senior Software Engineer on Minecraft web, you will work closely with studio teams to build the marketing technology behind Minecraft.net - the primary acquisition, engagement, and conversion surface for the global Minecraft community. You will practice mature engineering and prioritize responsiveness, accessibility, and maintainability while partnering across disciplines and other teams to bring delightful, Minecrafty product experiences to life.  Minecraft.net is a high-traffic growth engine and you'll help build the instrumentation, experimentation, and personalization that make it perform.  


Responsibilities
  • Deliver delightful, business-critical web experiences that meet high standards of quality, performance, and reliability.
  • Apply modern engineering best practices to build responsive, accessible, and scalable web solutions that are easy to maintain and extend.
  • Collaborate across Mojang teams to understand product needs and translate them into impactful web solutions.
  • Build and nurture cross-discipline relationships to ensure cohesive, player-focused experiences that reflect the spirit of Minecraft.
  • Builds an understanding of customer needs to inform design and implementation decisions. 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, JavaScript and HTML
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of experience implementing web applications with a solid understanding of modern web standards and browser behaviors.
  • Experience working with service-oriented architectures – integrating and consuming RESTful APIs.
  • Experience solving technical challenges in web application development, including debugging, performance optimization, and cross-browser compatibility. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Understanding web accessibility standards and inclusive design principles.
  • Ability to work and collaborate in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Experience building responsive and accessible web user interfaces, with attention to performance and usability.
  • Passion for crafting user experiences and attention to details.
  • Experience with headless/CMS platforms that enable marketing-led content velocity.
  • SEO fundamentals and Core Web Vitals / performance optimization.
  • Experience with CSS, TypeScript, and modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React).
  • 3+ years of experience using version control systems like Git.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $160,200 - $261,000 per year.
