As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll build and enhance Collectly's healthcare financial products using Python and potentially React, focusing on backend systems and user-facing features.
About Collectly
Collectly is a fast-growing healthcare technology company transforming revenue cycle management (RCM) through AI-driven automation. Millions of patients navigate inefficient billing systems every day, while providers face delayed payments, rising administrative burden, and operational complexity.
Collectly applies artificial intelligence to automate workflows, accelerate cash flow, and modernize the patient financial experience; enabling healthcare organizations to operate more efficiently and focus on delivering care.
There could not be a hotter space to play in. Healthcare is a $4.9T industry and is adopting AI technology at 2.2x the rate of the rest of the economy. RCM is at the heart of this transformation as it has a clear and demonstrable ROI to our customers. We’re a hybrid team, with roots in Santa Monica and teammates distributed across the U.S. and Europe.
The Opportunity
As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll join a small, talented team building Collectly’s core pre-service product. Our stack is Python-first, and we’re looking for engineers who are comfortable designing and evolving backend systems in Python. Experience with React is a strong plus, especially if you enjoy working across the stack to deliver polished, user-facing experiences. You'll collaborate closely with the founder, engineering leadership, product managers, designers, and fellow engineers to ship high-quality, impactful features for healthcare providers and patients alike.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with the founder, product managers, designers, and engineers to design and build a high-impact product.
- Build and ship critical features with intent, strong attention to detail, and a focus on long-term maintainability and scalability.
- Own features end to end, from shaping requirements and implementation to testing, observability, deployment, and iteration in production.
- Contribute to and help shape our engineering culture as the team grows.
Required Qualifications
- You have 6+ years of experience building and operating complex web applications in production environments.
- You have strong experience building backend systems, ideally in Python using frameworks like FastAPI or Flask. If your background is in a statically typed language (for example Go, Java, or C#), that’s great too. We value strong fundamentals and the ability to learn quickly.
- You’re comfortable working across the stack. Experience with React is a strong plus, especially if you enjoy building thoughtful, user-facing experiences.
- You understand that velocity and quality aren’t opposites. When well done, they’re multiplicative.
- You think in terms of outcomes, not just implementations. You care about solving real customer problems, even when the requirements aren’t perfectly defined.
- You prefer pragmatic, well-reasoned solutions over theoretical perfection, and you know when “good and shipped” beats “perfect and late.
- You’re comfortable owning features end-to-end, from vague ideas to production impact and iteration.
How We Work:
- Start with a 1–2 week onboarding onsite in Los Angeles/Santa Monica with our CTO — travel and accommodations fully covered.
- After onboarding, you’ll work remotely with the freedom and flexibility that comes with it.
- Join a collaborative and supportive team that values high-quality code, continuous improvement, and having fun while doing meaningful work.
Why You'll Love It Here
- Unlimited PTO: We believe in work-life balance and encourage you to recharge when you need it.
- Comprehensive Health Coverage: Fully paid medical, dental, and vision insurance for you and your dependents, because your well-being matters to us.
