Information Technology Strategies, Inc. is a government IT solutions provider servicing commercial and government initiative in various parts of the United States. We are currently seeking a Senior SQL Database Administrator to work for our company.
Summary:
Client Agency is Defense Logistics Agency. Serve as senior administrator for enterprise application databases and supporting platform services to ensure availability, performance, and reliability. Design, create, configure, and maintain complex databases in client/server (and other required) environments; support systems design and database programming. Configuring JCL and access methods; optimizing access times and device allocation; establishing validation controls, data organization, and statistical methods; and applying data protection, security, and documentation requirements. Manage stakeholder activities and provide input supporting technical requirements, staffing, and cost analysis. Support stakeholders through Plan and project long-range database requirements in coordination with IT leadership and functional stakeholders. Establish/coordinate backup schedules; execute backups/restores and validate recovery capability. Provide data management support: data cleansing, database modeling assistance, and enforcement of data integrity processes. Develop and maintain database/data governance artifacts: policies, standards, procedures, dictionaries, schema documentation, file design/storage, and integration design. Support reporting and analytics needs, run queries, develop reports, and assist with SQL Server Reporting Services configuration/troubleshooting as needed. Support platform connectivity and application availability, including advanced application networking concepts (e.g., load balancing, tuning, optimization, and fault tolerance) as applicable. Provide local and remote maintenance support for systems deployed across multiple locations; assist other system administrators as required. Execute database Continuity of Operations (COOP) and Disaster Recovery (DR) responsibilities, including participation in planning, documentation, exercises, and related continuity activities. Support daily troubleshooting, system setup, error triage, and configuration for SQL Server and SQL Clusters. Experience with performing capacity planning and system health monitoring using Idera and SolarWinds.
Requirements:
- Eligibility to obtain a U.S. Government PUBLIC TRUST / SECRET / TOP SECRET Clearance. (Basic Federal Clearance requirements are U.S. Citizenship, clear criminal history check, no recent or pending bankruptcies)
- BS in Information Systems, or related experience
- 8+ Years of experience (Domain and Expert technical knowledge within the database field)
- 8+ Years of experience w/ Interactions involve client negotiations and interfacing with senior management
- Minimum of five (8) years of satisfactory experience managing Oracle and SQL Database Administrators for federal or commercial clients.
- Proven proficiency in creating and managing standalone SQL and Oracle databases.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and triage issues, perform server maintenance, execute software installations and patching, maintain High Availability (HA) systems, and execute Disaster Recovery (DR) protocols.
- Previous supervisory experience preferred
- Demonstrated expertise across SQL, SQL Server, SQL Clustering, SQL Scripting, PL/SQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, and MS Access
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
