Company Description

Veza is the pioneer in identity security, purpose-built to answer the fundamental question enterprises face: who  can and should take what action on what data. Veza's Access Graph platform maps an organization's entire  identity ecosystem across users, groups, roles, policies, permissions, and resources, providing deep visibility and  control over human, non-human, and agentic identities across SaaS, cloud, on-prem, and custom applications.

Veza is now part of the ServiceNow family. Together, Veza's Access Graph and ServiceNow's platform enable  organizations to enforce end-to-end identity security rooted in the principle of least privilege across applications,  data, cloud environments, and AI agents.

Job Description

We are looking for a passionate Senior Staff Software Engineer to provide technical leadership for Access Review, a key capability within Veza's Identity and Access Management platform.

In this role, you will drive the technical direction and architecture of Access Review, working closely with Product  Management, UX, security experts, and engineering teams to build scalable, reliable, and secure solutions for  complex enterprise access-governance needs.

You will take on some of the most challenging technical problems in the product, guide architectural decisions and  engineering best practices, and mentor other engineers while remaining deeply involved in the design and  development of the system.

What you will do

  • Own and drive the technical direction and architecture of the Access Review product area, ensuring solutions  are scalable, reliable, secure, and maintainable.
  • Lead the design and development of backend services and APIs supporting Access Review and related IAM  capabilities.
  • Drive architecture, design patterns, and engineering best practices for complex Access Review initiatives. • Lead technically challenging and high-impact projects from requirements and design through implementation,  deployment, and operation.
  • Partner closely with Product Management, UX, security experts, and other engineering teams to translate  customer and business requirements into well-designed technical solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to backend software engineers, helping them make sound design  decisions and grow their technical expertise.
  • Design and evolve capabilities supporting identity governance and lifecycle management, including access  reviews, access control policies, provisioning, and de-provisioning.
  • Drive improvements in the performance, scalability, security, and reliability of Access Review as the product  grows in usage and complexity.
  • Establish strong logging, monitoring, and auditing capabilities to provide operational visibility and support  security and compliance requirements.
  • Identify architectural and technical risks early, drive solutions to complex problems, and help the team make  appropriate trade-offs across product requirements, scalability, reliability, and engineering complexity. • Stay current with developments in identity and access management, security, and emerging technologies, and  apply them where they can meaningfully improve the product.

Qualifications

What you bring to the table:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of proven experience in backend software development, with experience in identity and access  management, security, data management, or related areas.
  • Strong proficiency in one or more backend programming languages, such as Golang or Java. • Strong experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs and microservices architectures.
  • Demonstrated experience driving architecture and technical design for complex, scalable backend systems. • Strong understanding of authentication, authorization, access control, and related security principles and best  practices.
  •  Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform and familiarity with cloud IAM  concepts and services.
  • Deep understanding of database technologies, including SQL and NoSQL systems, caching mechanisms, data  modeling, and distributed systems.
  • Experience designing systems for high performance, scalability, reliability, and operational maintainability. • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to independently drive difficult and ambiguous technical problems to resolution.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership, mentor engineers, and raise engineering standards across a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts  and architectural decisions effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have:

  • Experience building enterprise Identity Governance and Administration (IGA), IAM, access review, access  certification, or authorization products.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes. • Experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems in production.
