Job TitleSenior System Architect - Ultrasound (Cambridge, MA or Bothell, WA)

Job Description

This role is responsible for setting the direction for the next generation of Philips Ultrasound imaging platforms. As a Senior Systems Architect, you will lead system-level architecture across hardware, software, imaging, transducers, and clinical needs, shaping technology strategy, key product decisions, and future engineering talent.

Your role:

  • Own the long-range architecture vision and technology roadmap for ultrasound imaging platforms, aligning platform strategy with product, portfolio, clinical, and business objectives.
  • Establish architecture principles, platform interfaces, and system-level decision frameworks, translating cross-functional requirements into scalable platform strategies and measurable outcomes.
  • Serve as the technical authority for major programs from concept through launch, governing critical trade-offs across performance, reliability, cost, risk, and architectural integrity.
  • Set the technology agenda for emerging capabilities and future platforms, directing modeling, prototyping, integration, verification, validation, and risk-reduction strategies to enable evidence-based decisions.
  • Provide organizational and technical leadership across product generations, influencing senior leaders, suppliers, and technology partners while mentoring architects and senior engineers and strengthening systems-thinking capabilities.

You're the right fit if:

  • You've acquired 10+ years of industry and/or academic experience in Ultrasound System Architecture, System Design, Hardware Engineering, or equivalent, including significant time as lead architect or technical authority on complex products.
  • You have a track record of defining platform architectures that shipped and scaled across multiple products or generations. You've made high-consequence technology decisions that balance clinical value, risk, quality, cost, and long-term platform strategy.
  • You lead through influence, earning the trust of senior leaders and developing other architects. You bring deep command of design controls and risk management, and you're energized by turning new technology into responsible, differentiated products. You must be able to successfully perform the following minimum Physical, Cognitive and Environmental job requirements with or without accommodation for this position.

How we work together

We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in-person at least 3 days per week. Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company’s facilities. Field roles are most effectively done outside of the company’s main facilities, generally at the customers’ or suppliers’ locations.

This is an office role.
