The Revenue Management team within Microsoft Advertising is helping to power the monetization engine for Microsoft’s and third-party publishers’ online search & native, and AI services.  We have a broad responsibility across business planning, forecasting, demand analytics, performance management including delivering operational insights, and  monetization efforts all of which are critical to ensuring the long-term health of our advertising platform. We work with groups across engineering, product and sales on driving growth initiatives and monetization improvements to our platform to help better enable our publishers and advertisers. The team is responsible for developing advanced techniques to turn data into insights; and to drive actions based on those insights end to end. The work environment empowers you to have a real impact on Microsoft’s business, our advertiser & publisher partners, and millions of end users. 

Who We’re Looking For   

Microsoft Advertising is seeking a Senior Technical Program Manager to join the Revenue Management organization and help drive the security, compliance, governance, and operational excellence of our Shared Data Services (SDS) ecosystem. In this role, you will partner closely with Engineering, Security, Privacy, Compliance, Data Engineering and Business stakeholders to ensure our data platforms operate securely, reliably, and in accordance with our enterprise standards at Microsoft. You will help lead initiatives spanning access management, security governance, compliance programs, platform modernization, data infrastructure operations, and process automation leveraging AI. The ideal candidate combines solid technical depth with exceptional program management skills and thrives in complex cross-functional environments. You are highly organized, comfortable navigating ambiguity, passionate about operational excellence, and capable of influencing outcomes across diverse stakeholder groups. You can effectively balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution while driving scalable solutions that enable teams to innovate securely and efficiently.

Starting January 26, 2026, Microsoft AI (MAI) employees who live within a 50- mile commute of a designated Microsoft office in the U.S. or 25-mile commute of a non-U.S., country-specific location are expected to work from the office at least four days per week. This expectation is subject to local law and may vary by jurisdiction.


Responsibilities
  • Drive security, compliance, governance, and operational initiatives across Shared Data Services and related data platforms. 
  • Partner with Engineering, Security, Privacy, and Compliance teams to ensure adherence to corporate security standards, SDL requirements, audit commitments, and regulatory obligations. 
  • Lead identity and access management processes, including security group governance, entitlement management, access reviews, onboarding/offboarding, and periodic compliance validations. 
  • Manage cross-functional programs that improve the reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency of shared data infrastructure and analytics platforms. 
  • Coordinate security assessments, risk mitigation activities, remediation plans, and operational readiness reviews across multiple services and stakeholders. 
  • Drive roadmap execution of platform modernization, automation, governance, and operational excellence initiatives. 
  • Establish and improve processes, controls, documentation, and reporting that enhance transparency, compliance, and operational effectiveness. 
  • Partner with data engineering teams to improve data platform capabilities, access models, reporting environments, and shared services. 
  • Monitor operational health, identify emerging risks, and drive resolution of complex technical and business challenges. 
  • Develop executive-ready communications, business reviews, reporting, and presentations that translate complex technical topics into clear business outcomes. 
  • Lead projects from inception through implementation while balancing competing priorities and driving measurable impact.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Math, Business, or related field AND 4+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
    • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Math, Business, or related field AND 6+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Math, Business, or related field AND 8+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years of experience leading cross-functional technical programs involving multiple stakeholder groups. 
  • Experience working with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or equivalent enterprise-scale technologies. 
  • Experience managing security, compliance, governance, identity management, risk management, or enterprise operational programs. 
  • Experience working with data platforms, analytics environments, business intelligence systems, or shared services infrastructure. 
  • Experience driving complex initiatives from requirements through implementation and operationalization. 
  • Experience supporting enterprise security, privacy, compliance, audit, or governance programs. 
  • Experience with Azure services, data platforms, Power BI, Azure DevOps, automation technologies, or comparable enterprise tools. 
  • Experience working with large-scale analytics, reporting, data engineering, or business intelligence environments. 
  • Experience managing vendor operations, outsourced service models, or operational governance programs. 
  • Experience reading, writing, or reviewing code, automation scripts, and technical documentation (e.g., Python, SQL, C#/.NET, or Cosmos scripts) to support platform governance, operational automation, security, and compliance initiatives. 
  • Knowledge of digital advertising, online platforms, marketplace ecosystems, or data-driven businesses. 
  • Solid understanding of security, privacy, governance, compliance, and risk management principles. 
  • Demonstrated experience working with identity and access management frameworks, entitlement models, and security controls. 
  • Proven ability to manage large-scale cross-functional programs across engineering, operations, and business teams. 
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to break down ambiguous challenges into structured solutions. 
  • Solid analytical skills and experience using data to drive decisions and influence stakeholders. 
  • Ability to prioritize competing demands and execute effectively in fast-paced environments. 
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level presentations and business reviews. 
  • Solid stakeholder management, collaboration, and influence skills without direct authority. 
  • Experience developing scalable operational processes, governance frameworks, and automation opportunities. 
  • Self-starter with high accountability, ownership, and attention to detail. 
  • Demonstrated ability to balance strategic thinking with operational execution. 
  • Passion for building secure, compliant, scalable platforms that enable business growth.

Customer Experience Program Mgmt IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $160,200 - $261,000 per year.
