The Basics:

As a Senior UX Designer, you’ll turn complex IT and cybersecurity tasks into simple, repeatable workflows. You’ll design the interaction patterns that people and AI agents share across the whole Tanium platform, so the experience feels seamless from one job to the next.

This position follows the Company’s hybrid schedule which currently requires employees to work in the office at one of the following locations a minimum of three days per week: Addison, TX; Bellevue, WA; Durham, NC; Emeryville, CA; or Reston, VA.

Skills we’re looking for

  • Reducing a task that spans many tools, data sources, and decisions to a few clear steps
  • The across products, personas, and levels of expertise, from first-time helpdesk to expert admins
  • Systems thinking: Seeing how a single design decision affects the end-to-end experience, and designing for that bigger picture
  • Strong interaction design and information architecture

What you’ll do

  • User Interface Design: Design and prototype interfaces for IT and cybersecurity users
  • Pattern and workflow design: Define the interaction patterns and end-to-end workflows that make complex tasks simple, and make sure they hold up across products, personas, and AI-driven experiences.
  • Systems-level thinking: Look beyond the single feature. Spot where patterns diverge across the platform and help us consolidate them into a shared, scalable foundation.
  • Test, validate, and refine: Gather feedback and data to optimize user experience and satisfaction.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with product managers, engineers, and fellow designers to understand requirements, shape features, and deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Document and share: Record design decisions, patterns, and best practices for design, engineering, and PM adoption.

We’re looking for someone with

 Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field or equivalent work experience.

Experience

  • 5+ years in UX or product design, with a portfolio that shows clean, modern solutions to hairy technical problems
  • Experience designing in technical, B2B solutions
  • Experience designing within and for an established design system
  • Comfortable working with modern tools, including AI prototyping, as part of a craft-driven process. We value sound design judgment over tool fluency.
  • Experience designing for AI and Agentic AI experiences

And its status as a thriving tech ecosystem is attracting out-of-town companies looking to establish new tech and engineering hubs.

Key Facts About Seattle Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 287,000; 13% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, cloud computing, software, biotechnology, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $3.1 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Madrona, Fuse, Tola, Maveron
  • Research Centers and Universities: University of Washington, Seattle University, Seattle Pacific University, Allen Institute for Brain Science, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Children’s Research Institute
